Ireland has a growing Minecraft community and finding the right hosting can be tricky given that most game-focused hosts do not have Irish nodes. Here is what you need to know for the best setup in 2026.
Ping from Ireland to European Datacenters
WonderNetwork runs test servers in Dublin and Amsterdam and pings between them every hour. In late September 2026 the median of those hourly averages was about 19 ms (wondernetwork.com/pings/Dublin/Amsterdam). These are WonderNetwork's servers, not ours, and your own connection adds to the figure, so treat it as a guide, not a promise.
For survival, modded or creative servers, a ping in that range is hard to notice in play.
UK vs Netherlands: Which is Better for Ireland?
Some Irish players look at UK-hosted servers instead, because London is closer. Over the same weeks WonderNetwork's median from Dublin to London was about 11 ms (wondernetwork.com/pings/Dublin/London), so a London server saves roughly 8 ms compared with Amsterdam. For Minecraft that difference is small. Space-Node has no UK location, so for Ireland our nearest region is the Netherlands.
GDPR does not require EU hosting, but if you want the server and its data inside the EU, the Netherlands is the stronger choice: since Brexit, a UK-hosted server sits outside both the EU and the EEA.
Hardware Priorities for Irish Minecraft Hosts
Modded servers: Ireland's community runs a lot of modpacks. Pack hosting like ATM10 or Vault Hunters requires 8 to 16GB of RAM and a strong Ryzen processor. Avoid hosts that do not specify their CPU model.
Vanilla and SMP: Even lightweight servers benefit from NVMe storage. World saves, plugin data writes, and chunk loading are all noticeably faster on NVMe versus SATA SSD.
Plugin-heavy servers: Economy plugins, dynmap, and custom Discord integrations all consume CPU cycles. A host with headroom on single-core performance handles these without impacting TPS.
Best Option for Irish Minecraft Players
The closest Space-Node region for Ireland is the Netherlands. Standard plans there run AMD Ryzen 9 3900X-class CPUs and the Premium tier runs a Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5. Both use NVMe storage, include DDoS protection, and are backed by support from 08:00 to 20:00 UTC. The plan selector on our order page measures your ping to every region from your own browser, so you can check your own ping before you buy.
There is also a Canada region, which is worth considering if a large part of your group plays from North America.
Plans that fit, at the Standard prices on our Minecraft server hosting page:
- MC Coal: 3GB DDR4, EUR 2.70 per month. A small vanilla or plugin server for a handful of friends.
- MC Diamond: 8GB DDR4, EUR 7.20 per month. The usual pick for an SMP or a plugin-heavy community server.
- MC Special 1: 12GB DDR4, EUR 10.80 per month. Heavy modpacks like All The Mods 10, or a busier public server.
You pick the region in the plan selector before checkout. Space-Node runs nine of them: Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, USA California, USA Virginia, Singapore, India and Australia. Pick Netherlands for a mostly Irish player base. Checkout is billed in euro, so Irish customers pay without a currency conversion, and the server stays inside the EU.
