Minecraft Server Hosting New Zealand: Sydney Plans From €2.70

Published on

Run a Minecraft server for your NZ group in Sydney, our closest location. Standard plans from €2.70 a month, about NZ$5.36, billed in EUR.

Snowy Minecraft mountain slope with spruce trees

Space-Node doesn't have a server in New Zealand. Our closest location is Sydney, across the Tasman, and that's where your Minecraft server runs with us.

Standard plans start at €2.70 a month, about NZ$5.36. That's 3 GB of RAM and 40 GB of NVMe, enough for a vanilla world with a few mates.

Why Sydney

Sydney is the closest of our nine regions to New Zealand. I won't put a ping number on it, because the route from your ISP decides more than the map does. Two mates on different providers can take different paths to the same server. The browser check in the plan selector compares our locations from your own connection, so get the group to run it at home in the evening.

Standard or Premium in Sydney

Sydney has two Minecraft tiers. Both run on shared AMD Ryzen 9 5950X hardware with NVMe storage and standard DDoS protection, and each plan size gets the same storage on either tier. Premium costs more; its prices are below the table. The selector opens on Standard, and that's where I'd start a server for a group of friends. Not sure which tier fits your modpack? Ask us in live chat before you order.

Both tiers include the Pterodactyl-based panel with console and file manager, SFTP access, a free subdomain and backups you make yourself in the panel. Automatic off-site backups are an optional paid add-on at checkout.

Standard prices in euros and NZ dollars

We're a Dutch company, so checkout and invoices are in euros. The NZ dollar column uses the ECB reference rate of 16 October 2026. Your bank or card provider converts at its own rate.

The player ranges are suggestions from checkout, not a hard cap. Longer billing terms can give a discount at checkout.

How much RAM to pick

Size the server for what you'll run, not just for the head count.

  • Vanilla with a few mates: Coal (3 GB). Step up to Iron (4 GB) if everyone heads off in different directions or you build serious farms.
  • Paper SMP with plugins: Gold (5 GB) for a growing server, Lapis (6 GB) for a bigger Discord community.
  • Modpacks: Lapis (6 GB) for packs of around 100 to 150 mods and Diamond (8 GB) for most popular packs. Diamond is also the comfortable start for Cobblemon with up to about ten players. Heavy packs like All the Mods 10 need Special 1 (12 GB) to Special 3 (16 GB).

The pack author's server requirements win over any rule of thumb; our modpack hosting page shows the options.

Before paying for more RAM, pre-generate your world with Chunky and keep simulation-distance modest. Five people flying in five directions, generating fresh terrain, is a classic cause of lag. Extra memory won't fix a farm with a thousand hoppers either.

Simple Voice Chat ports

Simple Voice Chat talks over its own UDP port, and extra ports cost nothing. You create them in the panel: three allocations are included and you can get up to five on request. Put the new port number in voicechat-server.properties, restart, and make sure every player has the mod installed. Friends on Bedrock can join your Java Edition server through the Geyser plugin, which can use the same free ports.

How to order

  1. Open the Minecraft plans with Australia (Sydney) selected.
  2. Choose Standard or Premium, then pick the plan by RAM.
  3. At checkout, check that Australia is the location and look at the total in euros.
  4. Pick a billing term and decide on automatic off-site backups.
  5. In the panel, install Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or a popular modpack with one click, or upload your own files over SFTP.
  6. Send your mates the free subdomain.

There's no free trial and no money-back guarantee; refunds follow our terms of service. Cancel anytime and the server stays active until the end of the period you paid for.

Moving your world to Sydney

Stop the old server first, then download the full server folder, not just the world. Keep the same Minecraft version and loader for the move and upgrade later, as a separate step. Upload over SFTP and join with a test account before you tell everyone. Our guide to moving a Minecraft server lists every folder and the online-mode setting to check.

Rather hand it over? A one-time migration service is available as a paid add-on. Already hosting with us somewhere else, say in Europe or Singapore? Moving to Sydney is free: ask in live chat.

Mates in Australia

A Sydney server makes sense for a trans-Tasman group. Point your Australian friends to our Australia Minecraft hosting guide for the details from their side. Their support window is 19:00 to 07:00 Sydney time during daylight saving, and 18:00 to 06:00 outside it.

Support hours in New Zealand time

Support runs every day from 08:00 to 20:00 UTC through live chat, tickets and Discord. In New Zealand that is:

  • NZDT (late September to early April): 21:00 to 09:00 the next day.
  • NZST (the rest of the year): 20:00 to 08:00 the next day.

To be upfront: that's late evening to early morning in New Zealand, not Saturday afternoon. Tickets sent outside the window are picked up when it opens. The servers have 24/7 monitoring. The contact page shows the window in your own time zone.

FAQ

Do you have a Minecraft server in New Zealand?

No. Our closest location is Sydney, Australia, and that's where your server runs.

Should I pick Standard or Premium?

Both run on shared AMD Ryzen 9 5950X with the same NVMe storage per plan size and standard DDoS protection. Premium costs more. For a group of friends, start on Standard.

Can I pay in NZ dollars?

No. Checkout and invoices are in euros, and your bank converts. The NZD amounts here are estimates.

Is support online during New Zealand evenings?

From 21:00 NZDT (20:00 NZST) until the next morning. Earlier than that, send a ticket and it's picked up when the window opens.
