How much RAM does a Squad server need?

More than most games. Squad layers are large and heavily populated, so 8GB is a realistic floor rather than a comfortable size. A public 50 player server is happier on 16GB, and 100 player layers with a modded rotation are where 24GB and 32GB earn their place.

What changes between a 50 and a 100 player server?

Both memory and CPU. Twice the players means twice the entity updates, twice the vehicle and projectile traffic, and far more contested points at once. It is not a linear step up, which is why we price those tiers separately rather than selling one plan for everything.

Can I run Steam Workshop mods?

Yes. Add mod collections through the panel. Bear in mind that every player needs the same mods, and a modded map rotation is the single biggest driver of memory use on a Squad server.

Yes, for modded servers. Squad will prompt joining players for missing mods, but a large collection means a real wait on first join, so most communities publish their collection link up front.

That is almost always CPU rather than bandwidth. A contested point concentrates many players, vehicles and projectiles into a small area, which is the heaviest moment for the simulation and the honest benchmark for a Squad server.
