- Can I stay AFK in Minecraft with my PC off?
- Yes, when a bot client on the VPS takes the place of the game on your PC and the server allows it. A console client like Minecraft Console Client or a Mineflayer script signs in with your account and stays connected while your PC is off. Many servers do not allow bots or kick idle players, so read the rules first. Want your own world to stay online instead? Then you need Minecraft server hosting, not a bot.
- Which plan do I need for my bot?
- For one console client or a small Mineflayer script, start with VPS-XS Premium: 2 GB for €4.20 a month. For several bots side by side, VPS-S Standard has 4 GB and 3 vCores for €4.99. For Mindcraft and other AI bots, VPS-M Standard has 8 GB for €8.99. We have not measured how many bots fit on each plan; it depends on the tool and on what the bots do. You can upgrade to a bigger plan later.
- Can a bot get my account banned?
- Yes. Each server decides whether bots are allowed, and many large servers ban bots, macros and AFK farming. Minecraft Console Client's own disclaimer says you may get banned by your server for using it. Only run a bot where the rules allow it. We do not help with anti-cheat, captchas, VPN or IP limit workarounds, or ban evasion.
- How do I sign in with my Microsoft account on a server without a screen?
- With a code. With
auth: 'microsoft', Mineflayer asks you to sign in at microsoft.com with a code, and Minecraft Console Client shows a link and a code the same way. Open the link on your own phone or PC, sign in with your own account and enter the code. MCC needs no password for this and works with two-step verification. If signing in from the VPS does not work, the MCC docs suggest checking the security center of your Microsoft account and approving the sign-in from the VPS there. - How do I keep my Microsoft account safe on a VPS?
- Only enter a sign-in code that your own bot just showed on your own VPS: attackers send people real device codes to get into their accounts. The bot keeps your sign-in tokens on the VPS (Mineflayer in the user's .minecraft folder or the profilesFolder you set, MCC in its own folder by default), and anyone who can read that folder can use your account. Log in with SSH keys, run the bot as a separate user and do not share the folder. Add the extra security Microsoft advises, such as the Authenticator app. If you think someone has your tokens, delete the cache files and use Sign out everywhere in your Microsoft account; Microsoft says that signs you out within 24 hours on everything except an Xbox console.
- Which Minecraft versions and editions work?
- These tools are for Java Edition. On 29 October 2026 their docs list Mineflayer for 1.8 to 26.1, Minecraft Console Client for 1.4.6 to 26.1, and Mindcraft for versions up to 1.21.11, with 1.21.6 recommended. The newest Java release is 26.3, out since 15 September 2026, so a server on the newest version may not work until the tools catch up. For Bedrock there is a separate library, bedrock-protocol, which we have not tested.
- What do I need for an AI bot like Mindcraft?
- An API key from a provider Mindcraft supports, such as OpenAI (the default), Anthropic or Google. The model runs at that company, on your key and at its prices; Space-Node does not sell AI usage. On an online server the bot signs in with a Microsoft account that owns Minecraft, yours or a second one if you want to play next to it, and it needs a world to join: your own server, or one where the owner allows AI bots. Mindcraft recommends Node.js 18 or 20 and warns about 24 and newer, but Node 20 reached end of life on 30 April 2026 and Mineflayer now asks for 22, so we suggest Node 22. We have not tested Mindcraft on it yet. Keep coding off on public servers, as its makers warn: with coding on, the model writes and runs code on your VPS.
- Can I keep my Aternos server online with a bot?
- No. Aternos's terms forbid bots and fake players that stop a server from shutting down, and getting around its idle timeout by reconnecting automatically. Breaking them can get your account suspended or deleted. For a server that stays online when nobody plays, see Minecraft server hosting or the Aternos alternative.
