Things We See Every Week in Support
Common issues people run into once their server is live. Most have a straightforward fix once you know what's actually causing them.
ATM10: Can't Keep Up!
TPS drops to 5, mobs teleport, blocks take 3 seconds to break. The dreaded 'Can't keep up!' warning in console.
Why: ATM10 runs 400+ mods. One player exploring can spike CPU harder than 20 vanilla players at once.
Fix: Switch to Generational ZGC flags, disable the watchdog, and pre-generate the world with Chunky before anyone joins. The fix is almost never just adding more RAM.
Plan tip: MC Special 1+ with the Premium tier. ZGC needs a recent Java version and the Ryzen 9 7950x3D handles modded tick loops much better.
Forge vs Fabric
You pick the wrong loader and half the mods won't start. Or the pack runs but crashes on startup with no clear error.
Why: Forge boots slower and uses more memory but most big packs (ATM10, RLCraft, Better MC) are built for it. Fabric is lighter but the mod selection is smaller.
Fix: Check your pack's download page first, it says which loader to use. If it says Forge, use Forge. If the pack was made after 2024 it might be NeoForge instead.
Plan tip: Both work on all our plans. You just pick the JAR in the panel, no need to contact us or change anything.
Chunk Load Lag on Explore
Server freezes every time someone moves into a new area. Modded biome generation takes 2-5 seconds per chunk.
Why: Mods like Biomes O' Plenty add heavy worldgen. The more dimensions you have loaded at once, the worse it gets.
Fix: Run Chunky before launch and pre-generate a 5,000 block radius. Snapshot your world first just in case. Do it overnight, it takes a few hours on big packs.
Plan tip: MC Special 1+ on NVMe SSD. Pre-gen finishes 2-3x faster than normal hosting because disk speed matters a lot here.
AE2 / Refined Storage Lag
Crafting requests take forever or freeze the server. Players with huge storage networks tank the TPS for everyone.
Why: Each crafting request scans the whole item list. When someone has 40,000+ items stored, that scan is expensive. Two players doing it simultaneously and the tick rate collapses.
Fix: Split storage into sub-networks, audit chunk loaders, and check how many automated crafters are running in the background. Usually one or two machines are the culprit.
Plan tip: MC Diamond+ (8GB+). The Ryzen 9 single-core speed helps a lot with deep storage network calculations.
32GB RAM Makes Things Worse
You followed Reddit advice, set 32GB, and now the server freezes for 5 seconds on repeat. Players get kicked with 'Connection Lost'.
Why: Java's garbage collector has to scan every byte of heap you give it. A 32GB heap scan blocks the server thread for 5+ seconds. It's not using that RAM for anything useful.
Fix: Set it to 12-16GB for ATM10. Add Generational ZGC flags. More RAM without the right flags makes GC pauses longer, not shorter.
Plan tip: MC Special 1 at 12GB with tuned flags often runs smoother than Special 3 at 16GB without them. We're happy to help set these up.
Create Mod Lag
TPS stuck at 2. Hard to join during peak hours. Server just about copes when nobody is playing and falls apart when they are.
Why: Every Create contraption updates every game tick. 500 rotating machines times 20 ticks per second adds up fast.
Fix: Audit how many contraptions are active, pause factories when you're not playing, and double check what's force-loading chunks in the background.
Plan tip: MC Special 2+ with Premium. Single-core clock speed matters more than core count here, Budget tier isn't the right call for Create-heavy servers.

Budget vs Premium: the actual differences
Both tiers run on real hardware in our datacenter. Here's where they differ and when it actually matters.
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
12-core @ 3.8-4.6GHz
Shared with other servers
AMD Ryzen 9 7950x3D
16-core @ 4.2-5.6GHz + 3D V-Cache
✓ Dedicated threads for your server
DDR4 @ 3200MHz
Shared pool (oversold risk)
If your host oversells, you feel lag spikes
DDR5 @ 5600MHz
Dedicated allocation, guaranteed
✓ Your RAM doesn't get stolen by neighbour servers
NVMe SSD
Fast chunk loading
Fine for small to medium servers
Enterprise NVMe
Higher IOPS, consistent throughput
✓ Backups and pre-gen don't stall the server mid-game
1 Gbps shared
Plenty for player bandwidth
Works well unless the node is heavily loaded
1 Gbps dedicated
No contention from other servers
✓ Chunk send rates stay consistent even under load
Basic (node-level)
Stops common attacks
Persistent targeted attacks might get through
PletX (included, free)
Dedicated mitigation layer
✓ Coordinated attacks get absorbed without downtime
Web control panel
Start/stop, files, MySQL, backups
Has everything you need day to day
Same + SFTP + live metrics
Real-time TPS, CPU, RAM graphs
✓ Useful when debugging lag — you can see what's actually causing it
Clock speed matters more than cores
Minecraft runs mostly on one thread. The Ryzen 9 7950x3D in Premium has a higher single-core boost clock, which is what ATM10 actually needs.
Shared vs reserved resources
Budget plans share the node. If a neighbour server spikes, you might feel it. Premium has resources set aside just for your server.
Disk speed hits pre-gen hard
Pre-generating a world on Budget can take 3x longer. Enterprise NVMe on Premium cuts that down. World backup goes from 15 min to about 5.
Budget is a solid choice for vanilla or casual modpacks with a small group. Premium is worth it if you're running ATM10, heavy Forge packs, or expecting 15+ regular players. For 1-5 people on lighter servers the performance gap is small, but once you start hitting lag complaints, upgrading usually fixes it immediately.
What Our Players Say
Real server owners · Verified customers
Tom V. 🇳🇱
Netherlands
“Been running ATM10 with 12 friends for 3 months. Zero crashes, TPS stays at 19.5+. Coming from Aternos the difference is night and day — no queue, always online.”
Marcus R. 🇩🇪
Germany
“Support set up Generational ZGC flags with me and TPS went from 12 to 19.8. These guys actually know Minecraft, not just hosting.”
Sophie L. 🇧🇪
Belgium
“Cheapest NVMe hosting I found in Europe that isn’t oversold. My Fabric server with 30 mods loads chunks instantly. Solid value.”
James K. 🇨🇦
Canada
“Canada POP is great for our NA group — 25ms from Toronto. Only 4 stars because I’d love more NA regions, but performance is excellent.”
Luuk D. 🇳🇱
Netherlands
“Switched from a big-name host after they oversold their nodes. Space-Node keeps it honest — never lags even during peak hours.”
Emma W. 🇬🇧
United Kingdom
“Set up a Vanilla server for my kids in 2 minutes. Panel is simple and support was super helpful when I needed help with whitelisting.”

Modpack RAM Requirements Guide
| Modpack | Min RAM | Rec. (20+p) | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATM10 | 12GB | 16-32GB | Special 1-4 |
| Better MC | 8-10GB | 12-16GB | Diamond+ |
| FTB / SkyFactory | 6-8GB | 10-12GB | Lapis+ |
| Vault Hunters | 6-8GB | 10-12GB | Diamond |
| Vanilla + Plugins | 3-4GB | 5-6GB | Coal/Iron |
Start conservative and upgrade if you hit TPS drops. Newer MC versions need more RAM. Consider Premium for 1.21+ with modpacks.
