Which plan fits your Pixelmon server?
The Pixelmon wiki gives three memory figures for servers: at least 4GB, 6GB as the bare minimum for most Pixelmon servers, and 8GB for an average server with a small player base. It also warns against going past 16GB, because more memory makes Java's garbage collection worse. Those figures are the Java heap. Java needs memory on top of the heap, so we start Pixelmon at 8GB.
Friends server
MC Diamond, 8GB RAM
Standard
€7.20/mo
Premium
€13.99/mo
Room for a 6GB Java heap, which the Pixelmon wiki calls the bare minimum for most Pixelmon servers, with 2GB left for Java itself. We suggest starting here.
Choose 8GBSmall community
MC Special 1, 12GB RAM
Standard
€10.80/mo
Premium
€21.99/mo
The wiki says 8GB will do for an average server with a small player base. 12GB fits that heap and leaves room for Java and a few sidemods.
Choose 12GBBigger community
MC Special 3, 16GB RAM
Standard
€14.40/mo
Premium
€27.99/mo
Pixelmon spawns Pokémon around each player, so every extra player online adds work for the server. The wiki advises against a heap above 16GB, and this plan stays within it.
Choose 16GBPrices for the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. Other regions are in the plan selector below, and every plan is on our Minecraft hosting page.

CPU matters
Minecraft cares about single-thread speed. In the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Canada, Premium runs Ryzen 9 7950X or 9950X (depending on stock) and Standard Ryzen 9 3900X-class. California and Virginia run the 7950X3D, Singapore and Australia the 5950X, and India the 3900X-class. The CPU is shared on every plan.
Protection choices
DDoS protection is included on every plan in every region. Premium and the USA locations run behind Cloudflare Magic Transit; Standard, Singapore, Australia and India use standard protection. There is no paid add-on.
Panel included
Console, files, backups, schedules, startup flags, and sub-users are ready.
9 regions
Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, USA (California), USA (Virginia), Singapore, India (Mumbai), and Australia. EU, NA, Asia, South Asia, and Oceania covered.

Setup
From order to first join
Step 1
Pick 8GB or more and a region
Choose the region closest to your group. Your server and control panel login arrive by email after payment.
Step 2
Install NeoForge and Pixelmon
Pick NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1 in the panel and set Java 21 in the Startup tab. Pixelmon 9.4.1 needs NeoForge 21.1.248 or newer. Upload the Pixelmon server jar from the official site to the mods folder over SFTP, then start the server.
Step 3
Match the version
Your players add the same Pixelmon version to their game, or the same pack version if the server runs a modpack, and join with your server address.
Running the server
What to sort out before your players join
Taken from the Pixelmon wiki and the files in the official 9.3.14 server pack.
Use the smaller server jar
On the official site each download has its own server jar. The wiki says it is much smaller and only works on servers: in the 9.3.14 server pack it is about 40MB, while the universal jar of the same version is about 390MB.
Let Pixelmon generate the world
If the server already made a world before Pixelmon was installed, the wiki suggests deleting it before the next start. A fresh world puts players in a village at spawn with Pixelmon features nearby.
Set PokéLoot before anyone explores
Some Pixelmon settings only apply to new chunks, and the wiki tells server owners to change the PokéLoot spawn mode early to avoid loot drain. The official server pack ships spawn-mode: FCFS in config/pixelmon/spawning/poke_loot.yml. Chests set to TIMED can be looted again every loot-time hours, 24 by default.
Pre-generate the world
The wiki's performance guide calls pre-generation extremely important for servers, and Chunky has a NeoForge build for 1.21.1. For a new public server the guide suggests a border 15,000 to 20,000 blocks across. Worlds past 30,000 blocks across can grow beyond 50GB in 10 months, so keep an eye on your plan's NVMe storage.
Lower view distance, fewer spawns per player
The guide suggests a view-distance of 6 or 4 instead of the default 10. In config/pixelmon/spawning/general.yml, player-tracking-spawner-spawn-collection-rate ships at 2, and the comment above it says a server wants a higher number: fewer spawns per player, less work for the server.
The newest server pack is 9.3.14
CurseForge has official server packs up to 9.3.14 from January 2026 and none for 9.3.15 to 9.4.1. That pack starts Java with -Xmx4G -Xms4G in variables.txt. If your server starts through the pack's script, raise -Xmx to fit your plan and leave a couple of GB for Java itself.
Pixelmon versions

| Version | Runs on | For your server |
|---|---|---|
| 9.4.1September 2026 | Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.248 or newer, Java 21 | The newest version on 1 October 2026, when the official site still listed it as beta. |
| 9.3.16May 2026 | Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.200, Java 21 | The official site's recommended download on 1 October 2026. |
| 9.2.10December 2024 | Minecraft 1.20.2, Forge, Java 17 | The last version for 1.20.2. |
| 9.1.13December 2024 | Minecraft 1.16.5, Forge, Java 8 | The last version for 1.16.5. |
| 8.4.3January 2023 | Minecraft 1.12.2, Forge, Java 8 | The last version for 1.12.2. |
Pixelmon moved to NeoForge with 9.3.0 in May 2025. According to the Pixelmon wiki, versions before 9.2.0 need Java 8, 9.2.0 to 9.2.10 need Java 17, and 9.3.0 or newer need Java 21.

Pixelmon Hosting FAQ
- The Pixelmon wiki asks for at least 4GB, calls 6GB the bare minimum for most Pixelmon servers and says 8GB will do for an average server with a small player base. Those numbers are the Java heap, and Java needs memory on top of it, so we start Pixelmon at 8GB (MC Diamond, €7.20/mo) and suggest 12GB for a small community. The wiki advises against a heap above 16GB. Pixelmon publishes no player counts.
- Since 9.3.0, Pixelmon runs on NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1 with Java 21; older versions used Forge. The newest version is 9.4.1 from 17 September 2026, and it needs NeoForge 21.1.248 or newer. When we checked on 1 October 2026, the official site still listed 9.4.1 as beta and 9.3.16 (NeoForge 21.1.200) as its recommended download. You set the Java version in the Startup tab of the panel.
- Pick NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1 in the panel and set Java 21. Then download the server jar for your Pixelmon version from the official site, reforged.gg, and upload it to the mods folder over SFTP. Pixelmon needs no other mods. Official server packs on CurseForge stop at 9.3.14, so for 9.3.16 or 9.4.1 you add the jar yourself.
- Yes. Pixelmon runs on both sides, so every player needs the same Pixelmon version as the server, on NeoForge for 1.21.1. With a different version the game shows a Mod Rejection error and they cannot join. The official site says most launchers already ship Java 21. If your server runs a modpack, everyone installs that same pack version.
- Both run on Minecraft 1.21.1. Pixelmon is NeoForge only and closed source, with its own model for every Pokémon up to Generation 9 and towns with Gym Leaders built in. Cobblemon runs on Fabric and NeoForge, is open source, and says it aims to fit into modpacks and Minecraft itself better than other Pokémon mods. It can spawn all nine generations too, but shows a substitute doll for Pokémon that have no model yet. A world cannot switch from one to the other, because Pokémon and items do not carry over. For Cobblemon, see our Cobblemon server hosting page.
- Not through ArcLight. The Pixelmon wiki says ArcLight, the hybrid server that loads Spigot plugins next to mods, does not work with Pixelmon 9.2.4 or newer. On a current Pixelmon server you add features with NeoForge mods and Pixelmon sidemods in the mods folder. The wiki notes that some sidemods need extra libraries or a permissions manager such as LuckPerms, so check what each one requires.
- The one closest to most of your players. Our Minecraft servers run in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, USA (California and Virginia), Singapore, India and Australia. The plan selector measures your ping to each region and suggests the fastest.
