Why Roblox will not start on most VPSes
Roblox's anti-cheat checks whether Roblox Player runs inside a virtual machine. Without a graphics chip of its own, it stops with "Virtual machine detected".

- Roblox Player only runs on a virtual machine that has real graphics hardware passed through to it. On a normal VPS it stops with "Virtual machine detected". The Roblox Cloud PC and Creator + Stream are physical machines with their own graphics, so Roblox Player runs on them. Roblox Studio has no anti-cheat and also runs on a VPS without a GPU, like Studio Starter.
- A private server is a Roblox feature for playing an experience with friends, and Roblox hosts it. A Roblox VPS is a Windows computer you rent to run Roblox Player, Roblox Studio or OBS. Nobody can host Roblox game servers themselves.
- Studio Starter (€19.99 a month) for scripting and building in Roblox Studio. The Roblox Cloud PC (€49.99) to play Roblox from any device and to build bigger places. Creator + Stream (€79.99) when you also stream with OBS.
- No. Studio Starter is a virtual machine without a graphics card, and Roblox Player does not start on a virtual machine like that. Roblox Studio does run on it. To play Roblox itself, choose the Roblox Cloud PC or Creator + Stream.
- With RustDesk or AnyDesk. Your login details appear in the client area once your machine is ready. Both apps run on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and Chromebooks, so the device you use only has to show the screen.
- Roblox Studio itself runs on Windows and macOS only. With a Space-Node cloud PC it runs on Windows in our datacenter, and your Chromebook or iPad shows it through RustDesk or AnyDesk.
- Your cloud PC stays on, with Roblox, Studio and OBS still open. Roblox's own rules still apply: it disconnects players who have been idle for at least 20 minutes.
- Yes, as long as you use the official Roblox apps and follow Roblox's Terms of Use. Roblox's help center explains how to run Roblox in a virtual machine with GPU passthrough. Cheats, modified clients, tools that hide a virtual machine and account bots are not allowed on our machines.
- No. You install Roblox and sign in yourself. We never ask for your Roblox password and never sign in to your account.
- In a datacenter in the Netherlands. Players in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK are closest.
- Plans are billed monthly. You cancel in the client area before the next billing date.
