Short answer: your cloud PC staying online and your Roblox session staying alive are two different things. Four things end a Roblox session on any computer, a cloud PC included: being idle for 20 minutes, the game's servers restarting, a lost connection to the game server, and the computer itself restarting. Closing your remote desktop app is not one of them: Roblox keeps running on the cloud PC when you disconnect.
1. Idle for 20 minutes
Roblox disconnects players who do nothing. The Creator Hub documentation for Player.Idled states that "Roblox automatically disconnects players that have been idle for at least 20 minutes" (Player.Idled).
This is the same at home and on a cloud PC. A machine that is on 24/7 does not change it, and we do not offer tools that fake input to get around it.
2. The game's servers restart
Experiences get updated, and creators can move everyone to the new version by restarting the old servers. Roblox's Release game updates page explains that after a restart Roblox "automatically teleports players to the updated version of the game". Creators can delay the restart by 1 to 60 minutes so players can leave on their own "instead of being temporarily disconnected".
Roblox also restarts servers itself: "Servers will also be notified when Roblox needs to restart servers for infrastructure maintenance reasons."
So even on a perfect connection, a server you are in can close. After an update restart Roblox moves you to a server with the new version; if a creator takes the game offline entirely by making it private, you cannot rejoin.
3. The connection to the game server drops
Roblox needs a steady connection between the computer running Roblox and the game server. On a cloud PC that connection runs from the datacenter, not from your home. Your own Wi-Fi dropping does not affect it: you lose the picture for a moment, but Roblox keeps running.
If the connection between the cloud PC and Roblox breaks, or the game server itself has a problem, Roblox shows a lost connection message, exactly as it would at home.
4. The computer restarts
If Windows restarts, every program on it closes, Roblox included. Windows can restart after it installs updates. On your own cloud PC you can set active hours in Settings, Windows Update, Advanced options, so Windows avoids restarting during the hours you use it.
What does not disconnect you
- Closing RustDesk or AnyDesk. You end the remote view, not the programs on the cloud PC. Connect again and Roblox is where you left it, unless one of the four things above happened in the meantime.
- Your laptop going to sleep, or your own internet dropping. Same reason: Roblox runs on the cloud PC, not on your device.
- Switching devices. You can disconnect from your laptop and connect from your phone. The session on the cloud PC stays the same.
How to tell what happened
Roblox usually shows a message when it ends a session. A message about being idle points to the 20 minute rule. A teleport into a fresh server points to a server restart. A lost connection message points to the network between the cloud PC and Roblox. If the whole desktop looks freshly started and every program is closed, the computer restarted.
FAQ
Can a cloud PC keep me in a Roblox game 24/7?
No. The cloud PC stays on, but Roblox disconnects players who are idle for at least 20 minutes, and game servers restart for updates and maintenance.
Does closing AnyDesk or RustDesk close Roblox?
No. It only closes the remote view. Roblox and every other program keep running on the cloud PC.
Why was I moved to a different server?
The game was most likely updated and its creator restarted the old servers, or Roblox restarted servers for maintenance. Roblox then teleports players to a new server.
Our cloud PCs
Our Roblox VPS plans run in the Netherlands: the Roblox Cloud PC (€49.99 a month) and Creator + Stream (€79.99) are physical machines with their own graphics, so Roblox Player runs on them. Studio Starter (€19.99) is for Roblox Studio only.
