Norway has a dedicated Minecraft community and while local hosting options in Scandinavia have improved, the Netherlands remains the dominant choice for quality and connectivity. Here is everything Norwegian players need to know in 2026.
Ping from Norway to Netherlands
From Oslo to Amsterdam, typical ping sits around 35 to 45 milliseconds. Bergen and northern Norway will see slightly higher values, generally 45 to 55ms, still comfortably within the smooth gameplay range.
Minecraft at 40ms feels no different from Minecraft at 5ms for almost all gameplay situations. TPS stability has a far greater impact on server feel than adding 30ms of extra latency.
Scandinavian Hosting vs Netherlands
There are Scandinavian providers with Stockholm or Oslo nodes. For pure latency to Norwegian players, local Scandinavian nodes offer a slight edge. However:
- Hardware quality at Nordic-focused hosts is often lower tier
- AMS-IX peering in the Netherlands provides better pan-European connectivity for international player bases
- Netherlands hosts generally offer a wider range of plans and better modpack support
If your player base is exclusively Norwegian, a Scandinavian node can work. If you have players across Europe or around the world, Netherlands is the better long-term choice.
What Norwegian Minecraft Players Typically Run
Norwegian communities are known for technical Minecraft. Create mod servers, automation-heavy tech packs, and competitive PvP configurations are common. This puts specific demands on hosting:
Create Mod and tech packs: CPU-intensive, especially with large contraptions or complex automation. Ryzen 9000 series processors handle these significantly better than older Xeon or budget Intel hardware.
PvP and competitive servers: Low and stable ping matters more here than on casual survival servers. The Netherlands consistently provides lower jitter than many budget hosts regardless of geographic location.
Recommendation for Norwegian Servers
The closest Space-Node region for Norway is the Netherlands. Standard plans there run AMD Ryzen 9 3900X-class CPUs and the Premium tier runs a Ryzen 9 9950X with DDR5. Both use NVMe storage, include DDoS protection, and are backed by support from 08:00 to 20:00 UTC. The plan selector on our order page measures your ping to every region from your own browser, so you can check your own ping before you buy.
Plans that fit, at the Standard prices on our Minecraft server hosting page:
- MC Coal: 3GB DDR4, EUR 2.70 per month. A small vanilla or plugin server for a handful of friends.
- MC Diamond: 8GB DDR4, EUR 7.20 per month. The usual pick for an SMP or a plugin-heavy community server.
- MC Special 1: 12GB DDR4, EUR 10.80 per month. Heavy modpacks like All The Mods 10, or a busier public server.
You pick the region in the plan selector before checkout. Space-Node runs nine of them: Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, USA California, USA Virginia, Singapore, India and Australia. Pick Netherlands for a Norwegian player base. Checkout is billed in euro; prices shown in other currencies are approximate conversions.
Prefer Norwegian? The same plans are on our Norwegian page: Minecraft serverhosting.
