If your Rust group plays from India, a server in Europe puts a long route under every gunfight, and Facepunch's monthly wipe arrives around midnight IST on a weeknight. A server in Mumbai shortens that route, and on your own server you decide when the fresh map opens. This guide covers what you can order in Mumbai, what it costs, when the forced wipe falls in IST through spring 2027, how to time your own wipes for Indian evenings, and where Oxide and Carbon fit.
Quick answer: All six of our Rust plans can be ordered in Mumbai, on AMD Ryzen 9 3900X-class Standard hardware with DDR4 memory, NVMe storage and DDoS protection. As of 30 October 2026 they cost €10.20 a month for Stone with 8 GB RAM (about ₹1,082 at that day's ECB reference rate) up to €41.80 for Hammer with 48 GB, billed in euros. Every plan supports Oxide (uMod). Rust's forced wipe comes on the first Thursday of the month at 19:00 London time: 00:30 IST on the Friday from November to March, 23:30 IST on the Thursday from April to October. The next one is expected on Friday 6 November 2026 at 00:30 IST. For your own extra wipes, set the wipe timer to Asia/Kolkata.
What You Can Order in Mumbai
The plan selector on our Rust hosting page lists India (Mumbai) next to Europe, Canada, the USA, Singapore and Australia, and the shop has a Mumbai checkout for every plan. The other games we run there are on our India game server page. For India the selector shows a single hardware line: "AMD Ryzen 9 3900X-class Standard hardware with DDR4 memory and NVMe storage in India. DDoS protection included on every plan." The CPU is shared with other servers on the node, and the RAM in your plan is reserved for your server. There is no Premium line in India.
| Plan | RAM | Per month, as of 30 October 2026 | About, at €1 = ₹106.084 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stone | 8 GB | €10.20 | ₹1,082 |
| Metal | 16 GB | €15.80 | ₹1,676 |
| Sulfur | 24 GB | €20.50 | ₹2,175 |
| Fuel | 32 GB | €24.80 | ₹2,631 |
| Building Plan | 40 GB | €30.90 | ₹3,278 |
| Hammer | 48 GB | €41.80 | ₹4,434 |
These are the same prices as in Europe. The rupee column uses the ECB euro reference rate of 30 October 2026; you pay in euros and your bank converts at its own rate on the day. Longer terms cost less per month: the Mumbai checkout shows Metal at €45.03 a quarter or €170.64 a year (€14.22 a month), and Stone at €105.84 a year (€8.82 a month). The order summary shows the subtotal, the VAT and the total, with the note "VAT is calculated for your billing country", so enter your real address and read the total before you pay. The checkout lists bank transfer, card, iDEAL, Bancontact, PayPal "and more"; UPI is not offered. Our checklist for choosing a host in India explains what to switch on before you pay a foreign host by card.
The plan cards suggest a player count for each plan, but in the selector's own words that is "a recommendation based on RAM, not a hard limit". What a Rust server holds depends on map size, plugins and entity count, which our guide to CPU and RAM for Rust covers. The Mumbai checkout lists two backup slots in the game panel with Stone and Metal and three from Sulfur up, plus an Automatic Off-Site Backups add-on (daily copies stored off-site) at €5.00 a month.
Rust's Forced Wipe in IST
Facepunch ships Rust's monthly update on the first Thursday of the month, and every server wipes its map with it. Its devblog of 3 December 2025 called 19:00 GMT "the regular time", and the in-game wipe timer counts down by default to the "First Thursday every month at 19:00 (London time)". Every monthly update from March to October 2026 landed on a first Thursday, as the Rust news archive shows.
London switches between GMT and BST; India does not. IST is UTC+5:30 all year. UK clocks go back on the last Sunday of October and forward on the last Sunday of March, so the first Thursday of November to March always falls in GMT and the first Thursday of April to October in BST. That gives two fixed times in IST:
- November to March: 19:00 GMT is 00:30 IST, early on Friday.
- April to October: 19:00 BST is 23:30 IST, late on Thursday.
| Expected forced wipe | London | India |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday 5 November 2026 | 19:00 GMT | Friday 6 November, 00:30 IST |
| Thursday 3 December 2026 | 19:00 GMT | Friday 4 December, 00:30 IST |
| Thursday 7 January 2027 | 19:00 GMT | Friday 8 January, 00:30 IST |
| Thursday 4 February 2027 | 19:00 GMT | Friday 5 February, 00:30 IST |
| Thursday 4 March 2027 | 19:00 GMT | Friday 5 March, 00:30 IST |
| Thursday 1 April 2027 | 19:00 BST | Thursday 1 April, 23:30 IST |
Facepunch confirms each date in its devblog and has changed plans before: in December 2025 it moved the naval update to February and shipped a wipe-only patch on the regular date. Mandatory updates without a wipe can land at the same hour, like the Christmas 2025 update at 19:00 GMT on 18 December.
Wipe Night From India
When the patch lands, you can update and open right away for the players who stay up, or update, check your plugins, stop the server and open the fresh map at an evening hour you announced, so everyone starts together. Either way the order is the same: back up, update the game files, then install the matching Oxide build. Facepunch's server guide says Oxide "will come out with an update shortly after" every server update and that you must install it each time, and Oxide's own guide warns: "Don't mismatch version of Oxide and version of servers."
Oxide is usually not what you wait for. On each of the five monthly update days from June to October 2026, Oxide published a release 13 to 27 minutes before 19:00 London time. Hotfixes follow in the days after a wipe: after the 1 October update, Oxide shipped five builds for Rust hotfixes by 13 October, four of them between 14:39 and 15:21 IST. Our wipe day checklist lists the files to delete for a map or blueprint wipe.
Your Own Wipes on Indian Evenings
Between forced wipes the schedule is yours. A weekly or biweekly server can wipe when your players are online, for example on Thursday at 20:00 IST. Tell the game about it: the server browser shows a wipe tag (monthly, biweekly or weekly), and the wipe timer counts down to your next wipe and starts two endgame events 24 hours before it, F-15E jets over the island and Bradley APCs on the roads. By default that timer runs on London time. Facepunch's wiki says server settings go in server.cfg, in the cfg folder of your server's identity folder:
server.tags weekly
wipetimer.wipetimezone Asia/Kolkata
wipetimer.wipedayofweek 4
wipetimer.wipehourofday 20
wipedayofweek counts from 0 for Sunday, so 4 is Thursday, and wipehourofday takes decimals: 20.5 is 20:30. The time zone is an identifier from the tz database, and Carbon's reference of Rust's convars notes that the server falls back to its own time zone when the value is missing or invalid. Restart the server, run wipetimer.printwipe in the console and check the time zone and the next wipe it prints.
Facepunch's region tags cover the Americas, Europe, West Asia, East Asia, Oceania and Africa but not South Asia, so put Mumbai or India in your server name and description.
The Forced-Wipe Week
In the first week of the month a Thursday 20:00 IST wipe lands a few hours before the forced wipe. Skip it and let the forced wipe be that week's wipe. To keep the countdown and the endgame events right, point the timer at the forced wipe with a Unix timestamp. The wiki says this override beats every other setting, and that the server ignores it once the time has passed and returns to your schedule. For 5 November 2026 at 19:00 UTC:
wipetimer.wipeunixtimestampoverride 1793905200
Work out the next one on Ubuntu 24.04 or Debian 12 with GNU date, and convert it back to check:
date -d '2026-12-03 19:00 UTC' +%s
TZ=Asia/Kolkata date -d @1796324400
The first command prints 1796324400; the second prints that moment in IST, Friday 4 December at 00:30 (12:30 AM). The same applies to a biweekly server, whose timer defaults to the first and third Thursday.
Oxide or Carbon
Every Rust plan lists Oxide/uMod support, and you install plugins from the panel or upload them over SFTP. Oxide and uMod are the same framework under two names, as our Oxide and uMod explainer shows. Carbon describes itself as a drop-in replacement for Oxide that keeps the same folder and plugin structure. Two rules from its porting guide matter before you switch: Oxide and Carbon "can NOT coexist" in one install, and Oxide's o. commands do not work in Carbon, which uses c. instead. Our plans list Oxide/uMod, not Carbon, so ask in live chat before you move a Mumbai server to Carbon. The Carbon and Oxide comparison helps you choose.
Mumbai or Singapore
Rust also runs in our Singapore location, on AMD Ryzen 9 5950X hardware at the same prices. Mumbai fits a group that lives mostly in India; Singapore fits a group split between India and Southeast Asia. Our location guide for India compares public measurements from Mumbai, Singapore and Europe to cities in both regions. It is written for Minecraft, but network routes do not depend on the game.
Moving an Existing Server to Mumbai
A server you already rent from us elsewhere can move to Mumbai free of charge, about once a week, through live chat. From another host, upload your files over SFTP, or add the Server migration option at the Mumbai checkout (€15.00 once, as of 30 October 2026) and we move it for you. Wipe day is the easiest moment, because the map resets anyway. Bring the cfg folder with server.cfg and your admin and ban lists, your plugin folders, player.blueprints if you keep blueprints, and two files for Rust+: Facepunch's wiki says companion.id "should always be kept with your server and its backups", and that removing player.tokens forces players to pair again. Our migration guide has the full steps.
FAQ
Can I pay in rupees or with UPI? No. You pay in euros. The checkout lists bank transfer, card, iDEAL, Bancontact, PayPal and more; UPI is not offered. The rupee figures above are a guide at the ECB rate of 30 October 2026, and your bank's rate on the day decides what you pay.
What ping will my players in India get? We do not quote or promise one: it depends on each player's city, provider and connection. Once your server runs, test from the connections your players use, at the hours they play, with the steps in our ping test guide.
Is there a faster hardware line for Rust in India? No. Mumbai has one line, Standard on a Ryzen 9 3900X-class CPU with DDR4. When the server grows, move to a bigger plan, which the plan page says works without rebuilding your server, or add RAM at the checkout: as of 30 October 2026, +1 GB costs €2.00 a month and +8 GB €12.00.
Do my plugins and settings survive the forced wipe? Yes. Facepunch's wiki explains that the number in the map save's file name goes up at a forced wipe, so the server starts a new map. It adds that this generally touches only the map save: blueprints stay unless you delete the blueprints file too. Configs and plugins stay. Install the matching Oxide build after the update and check your plugins, because some stop working until their authors ship fixes.
Is support online on wipe night? Yes, until 01:30 IST. Our team is on live chat and Discord every day from 13:30 to 01:30 IST (08:00 to 20:00 UTC), so the 00:30 IST patch from November to March falls an hour before the window closes.
