Your Palworld group has outgrown co-op. Online co-op holds up to 4 players, as the game's Steam page says, and the world is hosted from one player's game. A dedicated server removes both limits: it runs without anyone's game client, as Pocketpair explains, so nobody has to keep the game open, and Steam lists up to 32 players on one. For friends in India, four things decide whether the first evening goes well: where the server runs, how much memory it gets, what it costs when you pay from India, and whether friends on Xbox or PS5 can join. This guide covers each of them for a server in Mumbai.

Quick answer: Run the world on a dedicated server in Mumbai and size it by memory: Pocketpair lists 16 GB and says 8 GB boots but raises the risk of out-of-memory crashes. As of 30 October 2026, our Palworld plans in Mumbai cost €10.20 a month for 8 GB (about ₹1,082 at the ECB rate of 30 October) up to €61.20 for 48 GB, with 16 GB at €20.50 (about ₹2,175). You pay in euros; UPI is not offered. Friends on Steam or Mac join with the IP address and port, but Xbox and PS5 players can only join a community server, so ask us before you order if they are in the group. Schedule restarts for a quiet hour in IST and measure ping from each player's connection once the server runs.

How Much Memory Your World Needs

Pocketpair's requirements page for version 1.0.4 sets the floor:

  • CPU: "4 Core +", recommended.
  • Memory: 16 GB, with two notes: "Recommended for larger than 32GB" and "8GB is also bootable, but increases the possibility of server crashes due to out of memory."
  • Storage: a fast SSD, because "Low-performance storage may corrupt saved data".

The head count is only half of it. Memory use climbs as bases, Pals and structures pile up, so a world that started fine on 8 GB can need more after a few months. Our Palworld 1.0 hardware guide goes through each of these lines in more detail.

Three settings in PalWorldSettings.ini can add to that load. Pocketpair's configuration page gives BaseCampMaxNumInGuild (bases per guild) a default of 4 and a maximum of 10, caps BaseCampWorkerMaxNum (Pals per base) at 50, and says of both: "Increasing this value raises processing load." PalSpawnNumRate, the Pal spawn rate, carries the note "Impacts performance." The Mumbai CPU is shared and there is no faster hardware line to move to there, so leave these near their defaults until you have seen how the server copes with your group.

Palworld Plans in Mumbai

Our Palworld servers in India run in Mumbai on a shared AMD Ryzen 9 3900X-class CPU with DDR4 memory, NVMe storage and DDoS protection on every plan. Each plan has its own India product: pick India (Mumbai) in the plan selector and check that the order page says "India (Mumbai)" before you pay. The prices match our European and Singapore plans, and the other games we run in Mumbai are on our India game server page. Monthly prices on the order pages as of 30 October 2026, with rupees at the ECB reference rate of 30 October 2026 (€1 = ₹106.08):

PlanRAMPlayers we suggestPer monthRupees, about
LAMBALL8 GBup to 8€10.20₹1,082
CHIKIPI12 GBup to 12€15.30₹1,623
DEPRESSO16 GBup to 16€20.50₹2,175
ANUBIS20 GBup to 20€24.80₹2,631
JETRAGON24 GBup to 24€30.90₹3,278
PALADIUS32 GBup to 32€40.80₹4,328
NECROMUS48 GBup to 32€61.20₹6,492

The player column is a suggestion based on RAM, not a cap. Every order page also offers yearly billing at a lower monthly rate, but pay monthly first, until you have measured your ping and the group has settled in.

You pay in euros. The order page lists bank transfer, card and PayPal, plus iDEAL and Bancontact for Dutch and Belgian banks. UPI is not offered, and your bank converts at its own rate. Before you sign in, the order page shows each price as a subtotal plus 21% VAT with the line "VAT is calculated for your billing country", so check the total once your billing address is in. Paying by card from India? Switch on international online use first. Our checklist for choosing a host in India explains the RBI rules behind that and what they mean for renewals.

The server is set up automatically after payment. As the world grows, you move up a plan from the client panel and pay the prorated difference. A person answers live chat and Discord every day from 13:30 to 01:30 IST (08:00 to 20:00 UTC).

Set Up the Server Before You Share the Address

Edit PalWorldSettings.ini in the panel. On Linux, which our Palworld servers run, Pocketpair's guide puts it under the server folder at Pal/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/PalWorldSettings.ini, and notes that editing DefaultPalWorldSettings.ini changes nothing. Changes apply at the next restart. Then work through these steps:

  1. Name and lock the server. Set ServerName, ServerDescription, a ServerPassword that players need to log in, and an AdminPassword, which every admin command depends on.
  2. Set the player limit. ServerPlayerMaxNum is the most players who can join. A dedicated server holds up to 32, so match it to your plan instead of the maximum.
  3. Decide who can join. CrossplayPlatforms lists the platforms allowed to connect, by default (Steam,Xbox,PS5,Mac). Steam and Mac players type the IP address and port into the form below the server list. Xbox and PS5 players can only join a community server: a dedicated server started with the -publiclobby option, which then appears in the game's community server list for everyone, so keep the password. If console players are in your group, ask us in live chat before you order; our crossplay guide covers the settings.
  4. Turn on world backups. With bIsUseBackupSaveData, the server keeps a backup folder in its save data: 5 saves per 30 seconds, 6 per 10 minutes, 12 per hour and 7 per day, by Pocketpair's count, at the cost of more disk load. Those copies sit on the same server, so also take a backup in one of the plan's two backup slots before every update, and download a copy over SFTP now and then. Daily off-site backups are an add-on at checkout.
  5. Learn the admin commands. In game, press Enter and type /AdminPassword followed by your password. Pocketpair's command list then gives you /Broadcast <MessageText> to warn everyone, /Save to save the world, /ShowPlayers to see who is on, and /KickPlayer <SteamID>, /BanPlayer <SteamID> and /UnBanPlayer <SteamID> for trouble.

Restarts and Updates on IST

A Palworld server holds on to more memory the longer it runs, so schedule automatic restarts in the panel. Put them in an hour when nobody plays. India keeps UTC+5:30 all year, with no daylight saving time, as the IANA time zone database records for Asia/Kolkata. If your schedule runs on UTC, a 05:00 IST restart is 23:30 UTC the evening before. When you restart by hand during the day, send a /Broadcast and run /Save first.

The server is a program of its own: Pocketpair's setup guide installs it as Steam app 2394010, so it does not update when your players' games do. Pocketpair's latest patch notes on Steam are for v1.0.5, released on 15 September 2026, and its next update, "Palworld: Side by Side", is announced for winter 2026. When a patch lands, take a backup first, then run the update from the panel before your group's evening session.

Check Ping and Tell Lag From Load

We publish no ping figure for Mumbai, and the plan selector's ping check does not cover India. Your ping depends on your city, your internet provider and the link you play on (cable, Wi-Fi or mobile data), so measure from each player's own device once the server runs, at the hours you play. Our Mumbai ping guide is written for Minecraft, but its ping, mtr and WinMTR steps work with your Palworld server's IP address too.

When someone lags, Palworld's REST API helps you tell the route from the server. Its player list includes a ping for each connected player, and its metrics report the server FPS and the frame time in milliseconds. One player with a high ping while the server FPS holds steady points at that player's connection: try cable instead of mobile data, or another hour. A server FPS that drops for everyone at once points at the server: restart it, lower the base limits, or move up a plan.

The REST API stays off until you set RESTAPIEnabled=True, and it uses basic authentication. Pocketpair says it is "not designed to be exposed directly to the Internet", so switch it on only for a tool you trust, such as a status bot on your Discord. Do not build new tools on RCON: Pocketpair has deprecated it, says it "is scheduled to stop functioning in an upcoming update", and notes that it loses the letters after a multi-byte character in a player's name. Pocketpair names Japanese and Chinese, but letters in Devanagari, Tamil and India's other scripts also take three bytes each in UTF-8.

Which One Fits

  • Two to four friends on a fresh world: LAMBALL (8 GB), with Pocketpair's out-of-memory warning in mind. Move up when bases spread.
  • A regular group of up to 16: DEPRESSO (16 GB), the memory Pocketpair lists.
  • A full 32-player server or a world that has run for months: PALADIUS (32 GB) or NECROMUS (48 GB).
  • Friends across India and Southeast Asia: compare Mumbai with Singapore, which runs an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X at the same prices. Our Southeast Asia Palworld guide covers Singapore, and our location guide has public ping data for six Indian cities. If you pick wrong, moving an existing server to another of our locations is free about once a week through live chat.
  • Friends on Xbox or PS5: ask us in live chat before you order.

FAQ

Can friends on PS5 or Xbox join a server in Mumbai? Only through a community server. Pocketpair's docs say dedicated servers allow crossplay by default between the Steam, Xbox, Microsoft Store PC, Mac and PS5 versions, but Xbox and PS5 players can only join a server started with -publiclobby, which puts it in the game's community server list. Ask us in live chat before you order.

Can I pay in rupees or with UPI? No. You pay in euros by bank transfer, card or PayPal; UPI is not offered. The rupee amounts in this post use the ECB rate of 30 October 2026 and are a guide only: your bank converts at its own rate on the day you pay, and the checkout calculates VAT for your billing country.

Can I add mods to the server? Not server-side mods. Pocketpair's mod guide says "server-side mods work only on the dedicated server with Windows edition", and our Palworld servers run the Linux dedicated server. The bAllowClientMod setting decides whether players with mods enabled may join.

Is there a ping figure for Mumbai I can check before I order? No. A ping figure on a host's page would tell you little about your own connection. Pay for one month, measure from every player's device at your playing hours, and move to yearly billing only when the numbers suit the group.

How many friends can play on one server? Up to 32 on a dedicated server, against 4 in online co-op, according to the Steam page. ServerPlayerMaxNum sets a lower limit if you want one, and the plan table above suggests a RAM size for each group size.
