Your builders use Litematica and you run the server they build on. Ghost blocks work for everyone, yet the paste key does nothing for half the team, pasted chests come out empty and every builder lines up the same schematic by hand. Below: what Servux, Syncmatica and Litematica Server Paster each add, the files for 26.3 and 1.21.x, who may paste, the limits and what is left on Paper, checked on 31 October 2026 against Modrinth and each mod's source code.
Quick answer: Litematica is client side, so it does not need to be installed on the server: ghost blocks, the material list and the verifier work on any server. To paste schematics on a multiplayer server you need creative mode and permission for /setblock and /fill (level 2, which ops have), because Litematica pastes by sending those commands as you. A Fabric server can add three helpers. Servux (server only) pastes the build on the server, chest contents included, once builders turn on entityDataSync in Litematica; by default every creative player may use it. Syncmatica (server and builders) shares placements with everyone. Litematica Server Paster (server and builders) adds chest contents to command pastes. For 26.3 the files are Servux 0.12.2, Syncmatica 0.3.20 and Server Paster 1.3.14. Paper cannot load any of them.
Does Litematica Work on Servers?
Yes. Modrinth lists Litematica as client-side only, so it works on any server that lets players join with Fabric mods. With nothing on the server:
- Ghost blocks, the material list and the verifier work as in single player.
- Pasting needs creative mode and a key on
executeOperation, which has none by default (see our paste guide). Litematica then sends/setblockand/fillas you, at most 8 per game tick by default (commandLimitPerTick). Both need permission level 2;opgives level 4 by default (op-permission-levelinserver.properties). - Containers arrive empty. Chests, barrels and furnaces are placed without contents.
pasteNbtRestoreBehaviorcan restore them, but Litematica's own description suggests about 1 command per tick for it and only for important blocks. - Easy Place gets its full protocol only in single player or with Servux. Elsewhere Auto falls back to "Slabs only" (or Version 2 on Carpet servers, which works only with the
accurateBlockPlacementrule on), so rotated blocks can come out wrong. Litematica's page warns that Easy Place "may get you banned on some servers". - Saving chest contents needs that data from the server. Without Servux, Litematica can only use the vanilla NBT query (
entityDataSyncBackup), which needs operator rights.
Servux, Syncmatica and Server Paster Compared
| Mod | What it adds | Install on |
|---|---|---|
| Servux | Paste, Fill and Delete done by the server; chest and entity data for saving; Easy Place Version 3 | Server only |
| Syncmatica | Placements shared with every builder | Server and each builder |
| Litematica Server Paster | Chest contents and entity data in command pastes | Server and each builder |
Servux comes from Litematica's own authors, sakura-ryoko ports Syncmatica to new versions, and Server Paster is by Fallen_Breath.
Which Files to Get for 26.3 and 1.21.x
Each file runs only on the Minecraft versions it was built for, and your players need the Litematica and MaLiLib pair for that version too. The newest files on Modrinth on 31 October 2026:

| 26.3 | 0.29.1 + 0.30.2 | 0.12.2 | 0.3.20 | 1.3.14 |
| 26.2 | 0.28.8 + 0.29.6 | 0.11.5 | 0.3.20 | 1.3.14 |
| 26.1 to 26.1.2 | 0.27.14 + 0.28.12 | 0.10.7 | 0.3.20 | 1.3.14 |
| 1.21.11 | 0.26.16 + 0.27.20 | 0.9.9 | 0.3.20 | 1.3.14 |
| 1.21, 1.21.1 | 0.19.61 + 0.21.10 | 0.3.17 | 0.3.14-sakura.5 | 1.3.14 |
The 26.3 and 1.21 jars of Servux and Syncmatica carry the Fabric API parts they use, and Server Paster brings its own network library, so none of them requires Fabric API. Syncmatica's page still asks for it on the server and most Fabric mods need it, so keep it in mods (Fabric API guide).
How to Install Them on a Fabric Server
- Run a Fabric server on your players' Minecraft version: 26.3 runs on Java 25, 1.21.x on Java 21. Our Fabric install guide covers the server launcher.
- Stop the server and copy the jars into its
modsfolder. - Start it. Servux writes
config/servux.json. Syncmatica creates asyncmaticsfolder in the server folder and keeps its settings inworld/syncmatica/(with the default world name). - On 26.3, type
servuxin the console. It answers with its version, such asServux: servux-fabric-26.3-0.12.2(on 1.21.1,servux listshows the settings instead). - Builders install Fabric, Litematica and MaLiLib (Litematica setup guide), plus Syncmatica and Server Paster if the server runs them. Servux stays off players' PCs, except for a player who hosts a LAN world, as its page notes.
On a Space-Node Minecraft server, Fabric installs from the panel in a few clicks, the jars go into mods with the file manager or over SFTP, and the live console runs these commands without SSH.
How to Use Servux With Litematica
Litematica pastes through Servux only after each builder switches this on:
- Press M + C and open the Generic tab.
- Turn on
entityDataSync(off by default). Litematica then connects to Servux. - Leave
pasteUsingServuxon (the default).
A paste in creative now shows "The placement is being uploaded to Servux for pasting", and the server sets the blocks itself, chest contents and entities included. Fill and Delete run through Servux too, Easy Place on Auto switches to Version 3, and saving a schematic can fetch chest contents from the server.
If entityDataSync switches itself off, Litematica rejected the server's Servux: Litematica 0.29.1 compares the protocol version and the Minecraft version in Servux's version string, logs a "Mis-matched protocol version" warning on a mismatch and turns the option off. Update both to files for the same Minecraft version.
Who May Paste: Servux Permission Levels
Servux ignores the /setblock permission and uses its own levels, 0 to 4, stored per data provider in config/servux.json. In Servux 0.12.2 the Litematica ones all start at 0, meaning every player:
| Setting | Default | Controls |
|---|---|---|
litematic_data:permission_level | 0 | Any use of Servux by Litematica |
litematic_data:permission_level_paste | 0 | Pasting through Servux |
litematic_data:permission_level_tasks | 0 | Fill and Delete through Servux |
servux_main:permission_level_easy_place | 0 | Easy Place Version 3 |
Servux does demand creative mode for pastes, fills and deletes, but on a creative build server that is everyone. To keep those for ops, run this in the console (or in game, with a slash, as an op):
servux set litematic_data:permission_level_paste 2
servux set litematic_data:permission_level_tasks 2
servux save
servux set needs level 4, which op gives by default. servux save writes the file at once; Servux also writes it when the server stops, so edit the file by hand only while the server is off, or run servux reload right after your edit. Servux 0.3.17 for 1.21.1 has no permission_level_tasks. A builder without permission sees "Servux: Insufficient Permissions for the Litematic paste operation." and one in survival "Servux: Creative Mode is required for the Litematic paste operation."
Syncmatica: Shared Placements for the Whole Team
Syncmatica moves a placement from one player's game to the server, so every builder loads the same build at the same spot. With it, players get a View Syncmatics button in the Litematica main menu and a Share button in Schematic Placements; players without it can still join.
- Share: press M + P, hold Shift and click Share next to your placement (without Shift you get "Press shift to share"). Only
.litematicfiles can be shared; for a.schematicor.nbtfile Syncmatica asks you to convert it in Litematica's Schematic Manager first. - Load: click View Syncmatics, then Download and Load next to the build. Downloads go to
schematics/syncin your game folder, and you must be in the placement's dimension. - Change: open the shared placement's settings (Configure in Schematic Placements), switch Locked off, move or rotate it, then switch Locked on again to send the change to everyone.
On the server, the shared files sit in syncmatics and the placement list in world/syncmatica/placements.json. The config.json beside it holds an upload quota, off by default:
{
"quota": {
"enabled": false,
"limit": 40000000
},
"debug": {
"doPackageLogging": false
}
}
With enabled set to true, Syncmatica stops an upload once a player has sent more than limit bytes (40 MB) since the last server start. Its own page warns that the mod "gives its users a lot of power": every entry in View Syncmatics has a Remove button, and in the 26.3 source the server removes the placement for everyone without checking who shared it. The file stays in syncmatics, and /syncmatica load brings unlisted files back as placements at your position. Run Syncmatica with builders you trust.
Litematica Server Paster: Chest Contents in Command Pastes
A command paste loses chest contents because a /setblock with all that data is too long for chat. Server Paster's README says it uses "a custom chat packet to bypass the chat length limit", so Litematica can add the block or entity data to /setblock and /summon.
- Install it on the server and on each builder's PC. The client side needs only Litematica, the server side nothing else.
- Keep
commandUseWorldEditoff andpasteNbtRestoreBehavioron None in Litematica's Generic settings (both defaults), as the README asks. - The server runs each command as the builder, so creative mode and permission for
/setblockand/summonare still needed. - The server log shows a connected client with a line like
Player Steve connected with Litematica Server Paster @ 1.3.14. - Data is not pasted again where the world block already matches the schematic, so paste into a cleared area.
While Servux pastes for a builder, Server Paster has nothing to do. It suits servers that want pasting to stay tied to the vanilla /setblock permission.
Paste Limits to Know
- Command speed:
commandLimitPerTick(8 by default) andcommandTaskInterval(1 tick by default) set how fast Litematica sends commands. - Fill size:
commandFillMaxVolume(32,768 blocks by default) splits large/fillboxes. The vanillamax_block_modificationsgame rule caps/fillat the same 32,768 by default, so raise Litematica's value only after the game rule. - Servux uploads: Servux 0.12.2 takes at most 16 MiB in one transfer from a player; the code comment beside that limit reads "Make smaller files". Paste very large builds in parts.
What Breaks on Paper
Servux, Syncmatica and Server Paster are Fabric mods (Modrinth lists Fabric, and Quilt too for Syncmatica), so a Paper server, which runs plugins, cannot load them. Litematica still works on every player's PC. What changes:
- Pasting uses commands only. Paper's permission list names
minecraft.command.setblock,minecraft.command.fillandminecraft.command.summon, which players lack by default. Op your builders or grant those nodes with a permissions plugin. - Containers paste empty, because Server Paster cannot run there.
pasteNbtRestoreBehavioris the slow way around it. - Easy Place stays on "Slabs only", the mode Litematica calls "Compatible with Paper servers": top slabs come out right, other rotated blocks may not.
- WorldEdit is the alternative. With WorldEdit rights, a builder can turn on
commandUseWorldEditand Litematica pastes with//pos1,//pos2and//set, which its description calls around 3x slower; the paste replace setting does not work that way. - Kicks mid-paste: Paper's
packet-limiterinconfig/paper-global.ymlkicks players who send packets faster than itsmax-packet-rate. LowercommandLimitPerTickor raisecommandTaskInterval.
For a team that pastes daily, Fabric is the simpler home; our Paper, Purpur and Fabric comparison covers what else changes.
FAQ
Does Litematica need to be installed on the server? No. Litematica is a client-side mod for players' PCs, together with MaLiLib. The server needs Fabric only for the helpers: Servux, Syncmatica and Litematica Server Paster.
How do I use Servux with Litematica? Put the Servux file for your Minecraft version in the server's mods folder and restart. Each builder presses M + C and turns on entityDataSync on the Generic tab. Pastes in creative mode then go through Servux while pasteUsingServux stays on.
How do I paste schematics with Litematica on a multiplayer server? Switch to creative, bind a key to executeOperation, pick Paste Schematic in world as the tool mode and press the key. Without Servux you need permission for /setblock and /fill; with Servux and entityDataSync on, you need its paste level, 0 (every player) by default.
Does Servux work on Paper or Spigot? No. Servux is a Fabric mod, so Paper and Spigot cannot load it. There, Litematica pastes with /setblock and /fill, or with WorldEdit commands if you turn on commandUseWorldEdit.
Do players need Syncmatica installed? Everyone who wants to share or load placements needs Syncmatica for the server's Minecraft version, next to Litematica and MaLiLib. Players without it can still join; they just do not get its buttons.
Why are chests empty after pasting on a server? Litematica's command paste uses /setblock, and the chat length limit leaves no room for a chest's contents. Paste through Servux, add Litematica Server Paster on both sides, or use pasteNbtRestoreBehavior with a low command rate.
