Looking for the best Minecraft modpacks to host in 2026? Whether you're in the Netherlands, Europe, or anywhere else, choosing the right modpack and hosting setup matters for smooth gameplay. This guide compares the most popular modpacks by server requirements, performance and hosting recommendations for European servers.

Why Modpack Choice Matters for Server Performance

Not all Minecraft modpacks are created equal. The difference between a laggy, frustrating server and a smooth experience comes down to:

  • RAM requirements (ranges from 4GB to 32GB)
  • Mod count (50 to around 500 mods)
  • CPU demands (single-thread vs multi-thread optimization)
  • Player capacity (how many can play without lag)
  • Location (a server in Europe keeps ping low for EU players)

The SkyFactory 5 row comes from the official 5.0.8 server files: 264 mods on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.0 and Java 17, a 4GB Java heap in user_jvm_args.txt, and a README that calls 4GB the recommended minimum. The pack publishes no player counts. Java needs memory on top of the heap, so we start it at 6GB and suggest 8GB once the factory grows. Our SkyFactory 5 server hosting page has the full sizing.

The Prominence II row follows the pack team's own advice: at least 8GB for 3 to 4 players, then 1GB more for every player past that, and a faster CPU once more than about 15 players are online. The pack runs on Fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Java 17, and the start script in its server pack sets an 8GB Java heap, so we suggest 12GB. Our Prominence 2 server hosting page lists the plans by group size.

Create: Above and Beyond is the official Create challenge pack by simibubi, Create's author. Its last version, v1.3 from December 2021, runs on Forge for Minecraft 1.16.5 with Java 8, and our Create server hosting page covers it next to the current Create 6 packs.

Detailed Modpack Hosting Requirements

1. All The Mods 10 (ATM10): The Ultimate Kitchen Sink

Best for: Players who want everything in one pack
Download count: over 21 million (CurseForge, checked September 2026)
Netherlands server requirements:

  • Small group: 12GB RAM for 1 to 5 players
  • Recommended: 16GB RAM for 5 to 15 players, 32GB for 15 or more
  • Storage: NVMe SSD. The official server files alone are a 1.1 GB download, and the world grows from there
  • Java heap: the server files set -Xmx8G in user_jvm_args.txt, so raise it to fit your plan
  • Network: Low-latency European hosting (Amsterdam/Netherlands ideal)

Why it's demanding: With around 500 mods including Create, Mekanism and Industrial Foregoing all running together, ATM10 pushes servers to their limits. Chunk generation is particularly heavy.

Hosting recommendations:

  • Space-Node MC Special 1 (12GB, €10.80/month) for 1 to 5 players
  • Space-Node MC Special 3 (16GB, €14.40/month) for 5 to 15 players
  • Space-Node MC Special 4 (32GB, €29.99/month) for 15 or more players

Standard and Premium prices for all three are on our ATM10 server hosting page.

Netherlands server requirements:

  • Minimum: 6GB RAM
  • Recommended: 8-12GB RAM for 30+ players
  • Storage: 80GB NVMe SSD
  • Latency: pick the region closest to most of your players

Why it's popular: Enhances vanilla Minecraft without changing the core gameplay. Perfect for casual servers in Europe.

Hosting recommendations:

  • Space-Node MC Diamond (8GB): €7.20/month
  • Space-Node MC Special 1 (12GB): €10.80/month

3. Vault Hunters 3: RPG Quest Experience

  • Recommended: 10-14GB RAM for 20 players
  • Storage: 100GB NVMe SSD
  • CPU: High single-thread performance (Ryzen 9 ideal)

Unique requirements: Vault generation is CPU-intensive. Needs fast single-core performance for smooth vault experiences.

Geographic Hosting Considerations for European Players

Why Netherlands Hosting is Ideal for Europe

Latency from Amsterdam: WonderNetwork pings between its own test servers every hour. These are the medians of those hourly averages between 11 and 25 October 2026, read from wondernetwork.com on 25 October 2026:

ToMedian ping from Amsterdam
London8 ms
Paris14 ms
Berlin16 ms
Warsaw22 ms
Madrid28 ms
Washington (US East)86 ms
San Jose (US West)142 ms

WonderNetwork's servers are not our nodes, so treat these as a guide to the routes. For your own numbers, the plan selector on our Minecraft hosting page measures your ping to each region except India from your browser.

    • Good for testing larger packs
  • MC Diamond (8GB): €7.20/month

    • BMC4 with 25-30 players

  • MC Special 2 (15GB): €13.50/month

    • Vault Hunters with 25+ players

  • MC Special 3 (16GB): €14.40/month

    • ATM10 for 5 to 15 players

  • MC Special 4 (32GB): €29.99/month

    • ATM10 with 15 or more players
    • Prominence II with 15 or more players on the Premium version of this plan, since the pack team suggests a faster CPU past about 15 players
    • Multiple modpacks simultaneously
    • Large community servers

Common Mistakes When Choosing Modpack Hosting

1. Choosing Based Only on RAM

Wrong: "ATM10 needs 16GB, so I'll get 16GB RAM"

Right: You also need:

  • Fast CPU (Ryzen 9 recommended)
  • NVMe storage
  • Proper Java arguments

2. Ignoring Geographic Location

Problem: Hosting ATM10 on US servers when all players are in Europe

Result:

  • A transatlantic round trip on every action (WonderNetwork's median from Amsterdam to Washington was 86 ms between 11 and 25 October 2026)
  • Chunk loading delays
  • Combat issues
  • Poor multiplayer experience

Solution: Netherlands/Amsterdam hosting for European communities

3. Overselling "Unlimited" Plans

Red flags:

  • "Unlimited RAM" (impossible)
  • "Unlimited players" (not realistic for modpacks)
  • No CPU specs disclosed

What actually works:

  • A stated RAM amount per plan
  • Disclosed CPU specs (Ryzen 9)
  • Realistic player limits
  • NVMe storage guaranteed

Conclusion: Best Modpack Hosting for Europe 2025

For European/Netherlands-based communities, here's the final recommendation:

Best Value: Better MC (BMC4) on MC Diamond (8GB)

  • €7.20/month
  • 25-30 players
  • Low ping for players in Western Europe
  • Perfect balance of features and performance

Best Experience: Vault Hunters on MC Special 1 (12GB)

  • €10.80/month
  • 20-25 players
  • Smooth vault generation
  • Great community modpack

Best Kitchen Sink: ATM10 on MC Special 4 (32GB)

  • €29.99/month
  • 15-20 players
  • Every mod imaginable
  • Production-ready performance

Geographic advantages of Netherlands hosting for European players:

  • ✅ Short routes to most of Europe
  • ✅ Central location
  • ✅ Excellent infrastructure
  • ✅ DDoS protection
