If your Minecraft community is mostly on the US West Coast and you have been hosting in Europe or even our Canada node, you have probably noticed the ping never quite gets low. San Jose is the fix. Here is what actually runs on it and when you should pick it over our other regions.
Why San Jose Specifically
California alone has one of the largest concentrations of Minecraft players in North America, and it is the part of the continent every host based in Europe, Canada, or the US East Coast serves worst. A server in the Netherlands puts West Coast players at 130-160ms. Even our own Canada node, which is genuinely fast for most of North America, still runs 50-70ms out to the West Coast.
San Jose sits in Silicon Valley, one of the most connected pieces of internet infrastructure on the planet. For players already in the Bay Area, expect single-digit ping. For the rest of the West Coast, expect well under 20ms.

Minecraft is single-threaded for the parts that matter most: world ticks, chunk loading, and packet handling all run on one main thread, so single-core clock speed is what determines how the server actually feels. The 7950X is built for exactly that, and it is a genuinely strong pick for Minecraft specifically, not just what happened to be available. Our own comparison of the Ryzen 9 9950X against the 7950X found only a 2-5% real-world gap between them for Minecraft workloads, so West Coast players are not getting a downgraded experience by being on the newer USA region instead of our Premium DDR5 line.

Ping estimates are approximate and depend on your own ISP routing. If your community spans the whole continent rather than sitting on the West Coast specifically, our Canada node is the more central pick.
Common Questions
Is USA (San Jose) available on Premium? Not yet, it is Budget tier only for now. Budget already includes DDoS protection on this region, which is normally a Premium-only feature on our Netherlands and Germany plans.
What if half my players are West Coast and half are East Coast? Run the numbers for both. Canada gives a more balanced 15-70ms spread across the whole US. San Jose gives West Coast players single-digit ping at the cost of East Coast players seeing 60-75ms. If West Coast players are the majority or the ones most sensitive to lag (PvP, redstone-heavy builds), pick San Jose.
Can I move my server from Canada or Netherlands to USA (San Jose) later? Yes, message the team in the site chat and they can move your world files over.
