July 6, 2026 was a big day for ARK Survival Ascended. Three separate releases landed at once: Genesis Ascended, a free new map, alongside two paid DLCs, Tides of Fortune and Dragontopia. If your community has been running the same map for a while, this is the first genuinely new content moment for ASA in some time. Here is what each release adds and what it means for your server.

The Three July 6 Releases at a Glance

Genesis Ascended

Genesis Ascended is a new map, and it is free for anyone who owns ARK Survival Ascended. That makes it the most immediately relevant release for most server owners, since you do not need to buy anything to add it to your server's map rotation or migrate a community over to it.

If you are deciding whether to add Genesis Ascended to an existing cluster or run it as a standalone server, treat it the way you would any new ASA map addition: check current player numbers on your existing map before splitting your community across two servers, and remember that heavier or more detailed maps generally need more RAM and CPU headroom than a lighter map like Scorched Earth. Our ARK Survival Ascended maps list has the full rundown of how ASA maps compare if you want to size up where Genesis Ascended is likely to sit performance wise once you have it running.

Tides of Fortune and Dragontopia

Tides of Fortune and Dragontopia are both paid DLC released the same day as Genesis Ascended. As paid content, players on your server will each need to own the relevant DLC to access it, the same ownership model as other ARK expansion content. If you run a community server, it is worth deciding ahead of time and communicating clearly whether you plan to require, recommend, or simply support these DLCs, since mixed ownership across your playerbase can create confusion about who can join which parts of the map or cluster.

Server Setup Considerations

None of the specifics of Tides of Fortune or Dragontopia's content are detailed here since we do not want to guess at features that have not been independently confirmed. What we can say from a hosting standpoint is that adding any new map or DLC content to an ASA server follows the same basic checklist:

  1. Update your server files to the current ASA build before adding new map or DLC content.
  2. Check mod compatibility if you run CurseForge mods alongside official content, since a major content drop is exactly when incompatibilities tend to surface.
  3. Back up your existing world before switching a live server to a new map, this is non negotiable given how much state ARK tracks per creature and per structure.
  4. Watch your RAM headroom. ARK Survival Ascended already runs 12 to 16 GB by itself on a modest server, and new map content generally does not reduce that footprint. If you are already close to your plan's ceiling, this is a good moment to check whether you need to size up. See our ARK Survival Ascended server hosting guide for current hardware guidance.

What's Coming Later in 2026

Two additional ARK items are on the radar but not yet solid enough to plan around in detail. A remastered version of Fjordur is expected as a free release around December 2026, and a "World Creator" custom map tool has been teased for later in the year. Neither has a confirmed date beyond that, so treat both as directionally likely rather than something to build your server calendar around just yet. We will cover both in more depth once Studio Wildcard confirms firmer details.

Hosting for the New Content

Whether you are adding Genesis Ascended to an existing cluster or setting up a fresh server for one of the new DLCs, ARK Survival Ascended remains one of the heavier games to host well. RAM is the primary bottleneck, and CPU single thread speed matters more than core count because ASA is not efficiently multithreaded for game logic. If you are clustering multiple maps together, including a new Genesis Ascended server alongside your existing ones, make sure your hosting plan and network setup can handle cross server transfers without adding latency.
