Minecraft Parkour Server Setup Guide (2026)

Minecraft parkour server setup

Parkour servers challenge players to jump across blocks, navigate obstacles, and reach the finish line as fast as possible. It is a timeless Minecraft game mode that works for any audience and runs on minimal hardware.

How Parkour Servers Work

  • Players select a parkour course from a menu or lobby
  • Each course has a start point, checkpoints, and a finish
  • Players jump through the course without falling
  • Falling resets you to the last checkpoint
  • Times are tracked on leaderboards
  • Completing courses earns rewards

Plugin Options

Pakour Plugin

  • Parkour (A5H73Y) — The most popular dedicated parkour plugin. Handles courses, checkpoints, leaderboards, rewards, and permissions. Everything in one plugin.

Alternative Setup

  • PlotSquared for player-created parkour maps
  • Citizens + CommandNPCs for course selection NPCs
  • Holographic Displays for leaderboards

Setting Up Parkour (A5H73Y Plugin)

  1. Download Parkour from SpigotMC
  2. Place in plugins/
  3. Restart the server
  4. Create courses using /pa create [name]
  5. Set checkpoints with /pa checkpoint
  6. Set the finish with /pa finish

Course Configuration

Each course gets its own config:

MinimumLevel: 0
MaxDeaths: 0
MaxTime: 300
RewardOnce: false
RewardDelay: 24

Course Design Tips

  • Difficulty progression: Start with easy courses, unlock harder ones
  • Visual themes: Use different blocks and biomes per course
  • Varied mechanics: Mix straight jumps, ladder parkour, water parkour, fence jumps
  • Short courses: 30 to 90 seconds is the sweet spot for replayability
  • Checkpoints every 10 to 15 jumps: Frustration kills retention

Lobby Design

Create a central lobby where players:

  • See all available courses on signs or in a GUI
  • View their personal best times
  • Check the top 10 leaderboard for each course
  • Choose difficulty categories

Reward System

Reward players for completing courses:

  • In-game currency
  • Cosmetic items or particles
  • Access to harder courses
  • Leaderboard rankings
  • Titles or prefixes

Hardware Requirements

Parkour is one of the lightest game modes. No mob AI, minimal world interaction, small map sizes.

| Players | RAM | |---------|-----| | 1 to 30 | 2 to 3 GB | | 30 to 100 | 3 to 5 GB | | 100+ | 5 to 8 GB |
