OneBlock Server Setup & Hosting Guide (2026)

OneBlock Minecraft server

OneBlock is a skyblock variant where you start with a single block floating in the void. Break the block and it regenerates as a new random block. Over time, the block produces ores, chests, and eventually spawns mobs. The progression feels rewarding because every block break gives you something new.

How OneBlock Works

  1. Each player (or team) gets their own island with one block
  2. Breaking the block regenerates it as a random block
  3. Blocks follow phases: plains, underground, winter, ocean, nether, the end
  4. Each phase introduces new block types, mobs, and chest loot
  5. Players build their island using the resources they get

Server Software

Use Paper or Purpur with the OneBlock plugin.

Plugin Options

  • OneBlock (AV_OneBlock on SpigotMC) — The most popular OneBlock plugin
  • IridiumSkyblock — Supports OneBlock mode alongside classic skyblock
  • BentoBox + OneBlock addon — Modular skyblock framework with OneBlock support

BentoBox is the most flexible option because it supports multiple game modes (OneBlock, Skyblock, AcidIsland) on the same server.

Setup with BentoBox

  1. Download BentoBox from SpigotMC
  2. Download the OneBlock addon
  3. Place BentoBox in plugins/ and the OneBlock addon in plugins/BentoBox/addons/
  4. Restart the server
  5. Configure phases in plugins/BentoBox/addons/AOneBlock/phases/

Phase Configuration

Each phase defines:

  • Which blocks generate
  • Block probability weights
  • Chest loot tables
  • Which mobs spawn
  • How many blocks until the next phase

Example phase progression:

  • Phase 1 (Plains): Dirt, grass, oak logs, stone. 500 blocks.
  • Phase 2 (Underground): Stone, ores, gravel, spawners. 1000 blocks.
  • Phase 3 (Winter): Snow, ice, packed ice, spruce. 1000 blocks.
  • Phase 4 (Ocean): Water, sand, prismarine, coral. 1500 blocks.
  • Phase 5 (Nether): Netherrack, quartz, soul sand, blaze spawner. 2000 blocks.
  • Phase 6 (The End): End stone, purpur, shulkers. 3000 blocks.

Multiplayer Features

  • Each player or team gets their own island
  • Island visiting between players
  • Cooperative island building
  • Leaderboards by island level or blocks broken
  • Trading between players

Hardware Requirements

| Players | RAM | |---------|-----| | 1 to 20 | 3 to 4 GB | | 20 to 50 | 4 to 6 GB | | 50+ | 6 to 10 GB |

OneBlock is lightweight compared to other game modes. The worlds are small and focused.
