You found a long list of Enshrouded mods on Nexus Mods and want to know: does Keen Games allow them, which ones run on your dedicated server, and why did several stop working after the patch on 2 November? The answers come from Keen's pages and the mod pages, checked on 3 November 2026.
Quick answer: Enshrouded has no official mod support: no Steam Workshop, no mod kit and no plugin system for the dedicated server. Keen's FAQ says mods are something it "would love to implement in the future", and its terms of use forbid "creating or using cheats, mods, hacks". Community mods on Nexus Mods run on PC anyway, mostly by copying a DLL file and a mods folder next to enshrouded.exe. Some also run on a dedicated server next to enshrouded_server.exe, and on a Linux server they need a WINEDLLOVERRIDES setting. Almost all are tied to one game build, so Patch 1.0.1.0 switched several off until their authors shipped updates.
What Keen Games says about Enshrouded mods
Keen's FAQ answers "Will the game support mods?" with: "at this stage, we cannot make promises that the game will be moddable, but it is something we would love to implement in the future." The same answer is in the help center FAQ, last edited on 21 January 2026.
The Terms of Use for Enshrouded (status 29 June 2026) go further. Clause 3.3 lists what is prohibited, and point f) reads: "Creating or using cheats, mods, hacks and/or software that alters the game experience." The terms name no penalty, and we found no Keen statement about bans for mods.
The Steam store page lists no Workshop, none of Keen's Steam announcements since May 2023 mention mods, and the server configuration article has no setting that loads extra code. Every mod below is a community project Keen does not support, used at your own risk.
How Enshrouded mods work
Enshrouded runs on Keen's own Holistic Engine, so there are no Unity or Unreal mod tools to borrow. How a mod hooks in decides where it runs and what a patch does to it.
| Kind | How it works | Examples | On a dedicated server |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proxy DLL mods | A DLL with a Windows system name (dinput8.dll, powrprof.dll, iphlpapi.dll) loads with the game and changes it while it runs | Creative Mode, XHL mods, Live Map | Only mods that ship a server version |
| Mod loaders | A proxy DLL that loads other mods from a mods folder | EML, ShroudForge, Shroudweave | EML and ShroudForge say yes |
| File patchers | Rewrites the game's .kfc data archive on disk | Enshrouded Patcher | Yes, pointed at the server folder |
| Cheat Engine tables | A .CT file that edits the game's memory | Enshrouded Table | No |
| World saves | Save files you copy into your save folder | Nine's Sandbox Save Files | As a world, yes |
| ReShade presets | A filter on your own screen | Giorma's Realistic Reshade | No |
EML (Enshrouded Mod Loader) by Brabb3l is the base many mods build on. Its documentation says it "currently only supports asset modifications before the game starts" and "works for both client and server installations": dbghelp.dll goes in the game folder, mods in a mods folder beside it. ShroudForge is a newer runtime loader with an in-game menu on F9, dedicated server support and beta support for EML mods.
The most downloaded Enshrouded mods on Nexus
The first nine rows follow the Nexus download ranking on 3 November 2026, skipping three more world saves, a ReShade preset, four older cheat tables, the deprecated More Stack Size and Immersive Embervale (last updated December 2025). ShroudForge, further down at 3,078 downloads, is added because it comes up again in the server sections below. The last column is what each mod's page said about Patch 1.0.1.0 that day.
| Mod | Downloads | What it does | Where it runs | 1.0.1.0 status on its page |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enshrouded Table | 75,781 | Cheat Engine table: free crafting, flying, no fall damage | Your PC | Updated 2 November, no build named |
| Nine's Sandbox Save Files | 32,104 | A save with millions of every block and resource | Your PC | Early Access save from February 2024 |
| Creative Mode | 18,167 | Creative menu with about 3,300 items, character flight | PC and dedicated server | "Now with support for Enshrouded 1.0.1.0" |
| Enshrouded CT LevelCap XP MaxStack | 16,155 | Cheat table for level cap, XP and stack size | The host's PC | Last updated 30 October, before the patch |

Two server-only mods are worth knowing despite smaller numbers: Live Map (702 downloads) serves a browser map of your server, and Shared XP for Dedicated Servers (614) shares non-combat XP with everyone online. Install a mod by hand when its page says so: Creative Mode and the Worst Map Mod both say Vortex does not handle them.
Which mods run on a dedicated server
Each mod page says where it belongs:
- Client only. The Worst Map Mod: "Nothing goes on the server, and other players don't need it." ReShade presets, the minimap and the cheat tables are client mods too.
- Server only. Live Map and Shared XP run inside
enshrouded_server.exe, and Shared XP says "Players install nothing and join as usual." Enshrouded Together, a shared progression mod, is "Server-side installation only". - Both sides. Creative Mode goes on the server, and "Every player who joins needs the mod in their own game too." ShroudForge says: "Install ShroudForge and the mod on your PC and on the server."
On a Windows dedicated server the steps are the same for each:
- Stop the server and back up the
savegamefolder andenshrouded_server.json. - Copy the mod's files next to
enshrouded_server.exe:dbghelp.dllandmodsfor EML,powrprof.dllandmodsfor Creative Mode, iphlpapi.dlland thelivemapfolder for Live Map,powrprof.dllandxpshare.inifor Shared XP. - Start the server, wait for the
'HostOnline' (up)line in the newest log underlogs, then join and check that the mod reports in (Shared XP posts a chat line when a player joins).
Two mods can ship a file with the same name, and only one fits. Creative Mode's server version and Shared XP both use powrprof.dll, and Shroudweave's page warns that it and ShroudForge "both install a root winmm.dll." Some loaders can chain others (XHL-Core reads a dinput8-chain.ini), so read both pages before you overwrite a file.
Linux servers need a DLL override
Keen ships the server for Windows only, so on Linux it runs under Wine or Proton, as our Linux guide describes. A proxy DLL then only loads when you tell Wine to use the native file; Creative Mode's page says that without it "the mod won't load". EML's documentation gives the Proton line, which for the dedicated server becomes (with the other variables from the Linux guide set as before):
cd /home/enshrouded/server
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dbghelp=native,builtin" /home/enshrouded/proton/proton run ./enshrouded_server.exe
Each DLL gets its own entry, separated by semicolons: Creative Mode asks for powrprof=native, builtin, Live Map for iphlpapi=n,b, and ShroudForge on the mornedhels/enshrouded-server Docker image for dbghelp=native, builtin;winmm=native, builtin. With Docker, set the variable under environment and recreate the container.
What Patch 1.0.1.0 broke
Keen released Patch 1.0.1.0 on 2 November 2026 as version 1283531; Steam's app data shows server build 26319703 going live at 10:30 UTC and game build 26320373 a minute later. Mod pages use both Keen's numbers (1273043 was hotfix 1.0.0.3) and Steam's build IDs. If a page names neither, assume nobody has tested it on 1.0.1.0.
Proxy DLL mods hook into the game's code, and the patch moved it. Quick Deposit says: "The patch moved game code and data that Quick Deposit uses, so 1.3.17 doesn't work on the new build." Find, Town Portals, Embervale Teleport and Continue switched themselves off, and the Worst Map Mod lost its Map Key and Filters panel. All had fixed versions out on 2 November. The XHL mods, Creative Mode and ShroudForge followed by the early hours of 3 November; ShroudForge 1.7.7 adds "exact runtime profiles for client build 26320373 and Dedicated Server build 26319703".
Server-side mods had not caught up yet. Live Map and Shared XP still name the October builds 25988414 and 26083076, and Enshrouded Together requires "the exact build 1273043". Both Live Map and Shared XP fail safely: on an unknown build the map "stays off and the server runs as usual", and Shared XP says in chat that it is "NOT active". Mods on a loader wait twice: Solo Toolkit shipped its new build on 2 November "awaiting compatible ShroudForge".
What an update does depends on the kind of mod:
- Proxy DLL mods, runtime loaders like ShroudForge and cheat tables work on the running game, so expect them to stop at every patch until their page shows an update.
- File patchers lose their changes, because an update replaces the
.kfcfiles. Enshrouded Patcher says to run Patch Fresh after every game update, and that it does not work together with EML. - EML data mods are applied again at every start, so they keep working as long as Keen leaves their data alone. 1.0.1.0 changed recipes (crab cakes, goo, big farm animal beds), basalt loot and several stamina and mana costs, so retest mods that touch those. EML's own last release, 0.2.0 on 16 October, added 1.0 support, and several EML mods still name build 1273043 as tested.
- World saves are data, not code. For PC, the patch "Fixed several cases that could cause a save data migration to trigger an error", so an old Early Access world that failed to convert is worth another try.
Update day on a modded server
Steam updates every player's game, and since Patch #7 the server list shows a version mismatch for a server on another version, so you cannot keep the server on the old build while you wait for a mod. You can control the order:
- Read Keen's patch notes, stop the server, and back up
savegame,enshrouded_server.json, themodsfolder and every mod DLL and config file. - Update the server. With SteamCMD on Windows:
steamcmd +force_install_dir C:\EnshroudedServer +login anonymous +app_update 2278520 validate +quit, with your own folder. On Linux, add+@sSteamCmdForcePlatformType windowsbefore+force_install_dir. - Check every mod page for the new version or build, and remove each mod that has no update yet unless its page says it switches itself off.
- Start the server, read the log, and join with an updated game and updated client mods.
Our 1.0 dedicated server update guide covers the update itself.
Removing mods and going back to vanilla
Delete the mod's DLL and folder (for Creative Mode on a server, powrprof.dll and the creative folder in mods). For Enshrouded Patcher, let Steam verify the game files, which its page says restores the originals. What a mod changed in a world or on characters can stay: Enshrouded Together says "Removing the mod does not reverse progression already saved on characters." For a clean start, restore your pre-mod backup or start a new world.
If your group would rather play the game the way Keen ships it, our Enshrouded server hosting runs the dedicated server through Proton and fetches a new build with SteamCMD when you restart it. Make a backup in the panel first.
FAQ
Does Enshrouded have mod support? Not officially. Keen's FAQ says it "cannot make promises that the game will be moddable", there is no Steam Workshop, and Keen's terms of use forbid mods. Community mods exist anyway, mostly on Nexus Mods.
Where do I find Enshrouded mods on Nexus? In the Enshrouded section of Nexus Mods (nexusmods.com/games/enshrouded). Before you download, check that the changelog mentions 1.0.1.0, build 1283531 or build 26320373.
Can I use mods on an Enshrouded dedicated server?
Only mods whose page says so. Copy the mod's DLL and folder next to enshrouded_server.exe, and on Linux also set WINEDLLOVERRIDES. On a rented server, ask your host first if you can do both.
Do my friends need the same mods? Live Map and Shared XP need nothing from players. Creative Mode and ShroudForge mods go on the server and on every player's PC. Client-only mods are each player's choice.
Why did my Enshrouded mods stop working after the update?
Patch 1.0.1.0 changed the game's code and data, and most mods are built for one exact build. Many switched themselves off until their author shipped an update. Update the mod, and run .kfc patchers again.
Can Keen ban me for using mods? Keen's terms forbid mods but name no penalty, and we found no Keen statement about bans. Keep mods off servers where not every player agreed to them, and keep a backup from before your first mod.
