Enshrouded Map 1.0: Every Region, Level and Flame Altar

You open the Enshrouded map after the 1.0 update and want the lay of the land: which region comes next, what level it expects, where the new Cinder's Cradle is, and whether your interactive map already shows it. Enshrouded 1.0 came out on 15 October 2026 and opened all of Embervale.

The facts come from Keen Games' 1.0 changelog, Keen's help center and the official Enshrouded Wiki, which players write and maintain. Where they disagree, we follow Keen.

Quick answer: The Enshrouded 1.0 map has seven regions. By level, per the official wiki: the Springlands (1 to 10, south-west, where you start), the Revelwood (10 to 15, north-west, with the Blackmire swamp), the Nomad Highlands (15 to 20, center), the Kindlewastes (20 to 30, east), the Albaneve Summits (30 to 40, north-east), the Veilwater Basin (35 to 45, center) and the new Cinder's Cradle (45 to 50) in the north, beyond the gates past the Veilwater Basin. Ancient Spires and Flame Altars are your fast travel points, with up to 16 altars per world at the final Flame level. The map is handcrafted and the same in every world, so an interactive map fits yours if it already shows Cinder's Cradle.

The Regions on the Enshrouded Map

The values come from each region's wiki page on 31 October 2026; the direction for Cinder's Cradle is Keen's. The Flame level is the one the wiki lists as required for the region. Since 1.0 the level cap is 50, and gear can be upgraded to level 55.

What each region holds

Springlands. "A biome of peaceful woods and meadows, and the starting region of Embervale", says the wiki, with two Ancient Spires: one in the Springlands proper and one in the Low Meadows. For 1.0, Keen added chests and reworked roads and enemy camps so new players get lost less often.

Revelwood and the Blackmire. The Revelwood holds Embervale's capital, Pikemead's Reach. The Blackmire has its own spire, and Keen added more save points to the climb up it. Keen also reworked the terrain, plants and forests of the Springlands, Revelwood, Blackmire and Nomad Highlands, so an Early Access map or screenshot can be off in those areas.

Nomad Highlands. "Limestone bluffs high above the Shroud", in the wiki's words, with Umber Hollow, "a low region of dense Shroud", in the middle. In 1.0 Keen made that Shroud easier to find your way through and out of, and placed 3 new save points in it.

Kindlewastes. A desert on the eastern edge, where "winding canyons filled with Shroud and Fell" run under the mesas and the Shroud splits the region in two.

Albaneve Summits. A frozen mountain region around Howling Peak, "the highest point in Embervale". In 1.0 Keen substantially cut its boss's health and gave the boss's lair a wider walkable area with grappling hook anchors.

Veilwater Basin. Tropical lakes and sandy beaches. The wiki calls its lakes the "largest remaining sources of surface water uncorrupted by the Shroud". The gates to Cinder's Cradle lie past this basin.

Cinder's Cradle. Keen describes two sides: below, lava flows through a wasteland of ruins, some of it lost to the Shroud; above, the Ancients lifted the earth into floating islands, and high up in the sky, Keen says, evil hides its strongest champion yet. In size it sits between the Blackmire and the Veilwater Basin, and it brings 12 new Shroud Roots and a new faction with 14 new enemy types. Before you go in, you raise the Flame one more level, which lifts the altar cap to 15. Locked chests and doors of the higher tiers need the new Archaic Lockpicks, which start here.

What 1.0 Added to the Enshrouded Map

  • Edge areas. Every region, and the Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes most of all, now reaches further toward the edge of the world, with new quests and 6 more Shroud Roots. Keen notes that points of interest are spread thinner there than along the main path.
  • Two new Hollow Halls, in the Albaneve Summits and the Veilwater Basin. Keen's note on them ends with "bring your snorkel".
  • Closed places open. Dungeons and areas locked in Early Access are open, and the main quest leads to structures in the older regions, some of which players tried to get into for years.
  • Fewer no-build zones. Most areas that were marked as no-build zones now take player bases.

Early Access worlds still load and are converted to the new save format, but Keen's launch FAQ "strongly" encourages starting over because of the changes to the world. Our 1.0 server update guide covers that choice for a server.

Where the Shroud Is

The Shroud sits low. Keen's Steam page has you "descend into the deadly fog", and the wiki places it in hollows and canyons below bluffs and mesas. Keen's tips point you to towers, caves without Shroud and paths to higher ground when you need air.

Inside, a timer runs, and when it runs out, the Shroud consumes you, as the wiki puts it. Red-tinted fog is deadly Shroud, where the timer drops much faster, and raising the Flame makes deadly Shroud less common. To stay longer:

  • Raise the Flame, learn the Inner Fires skill, or drink a Shroud Survival Potion before you go in.
  • Use hourglass capsules. Each adds about 70% more time, and since 1.0 they lie in many more places and large Fell foes drop them.
  • Do not plan on stacking every bonus: in 1.0 Keen reduced what stacked time extensions add.

At the final Flame level 11, your Flame Altars push the Shroud back. Keen hints that you reach that level by beating the biggest threat to Embervale, and a world setting can lower the Flame level this needs.

Fast Travel: Ancient Spires and Flame Altars

How you fill in the map:

  1. Climb the Ancient Spire and speak with the Flame at the top. The wiki says this reveals where the Ancient Obelisks are and makes the spire a fast travel point. Its spire page lists eight from before 1.0; its Cinder's Cradle page adds one there.
  2. Read the obelisks. They reveal Shroud Roots, where you get extra skill points, and Flame Shrines.
  3. Read lore. Keen's tips say lore can add new locations to your map. Since 1.0 all lore texts are voiced in English, German and Mandarin Chinese, and they keep playing while you explore.
  4. Place Flame Altars. Every altar is a fast travel point, and Keen's tip is to spread them across the map, above the Shroud. The Flame level before Cinder's Cradle allows 15 altars, the final level 11 allows 16 per world.
  5. Set your own markers. Since 1.0 you can name them freely, but only you see them.

Between those points, the glider rides air streams, which since 1.0 can push you in any direction, not only up.

Picking Base Spots for a Group

A Flame Altar marks a base. The wiki says to place it "above the Shroud to mark your home", and changes inside the altar's boundaries stay unless the altar is put out. What to weigh as a group:

  • Room to grow. The wiki gives an altar's area as 40x40x40 at level 1, rising to 160x160x160 at level 4. Pick a spot where the largest size still fits your plans.
  • Old no-build zones. Most are open since 1.0, so a spot that was blocked in Early Access may work now.
  • One altar budget for everyone. The cap counts for the world, not per player. Agree on one main base for your survivors and crafting stations, and use the other altars as outposts on the way to the next region.
  • Cliffs and ledges. The new 1.0 skill Airborne Architect lets you build in a free-flying mode.

Enshrouded Interactive Map: Which Ones Show 1.0

The in-game map only shows what your character has uncovered. Outside the game you have three options:

  • The official printable map. The Deluxe Upgrade Pack on Steam includes an "Embervale High-Res Printable Map", which Keen updated with Hotfix 1.0.0.1 on 15 October 2026.
  • The official wiki. Region pages list spires, obelisks, Shroud Roots and more, but not every page is on 1.0 yet: the Ancient Spire page, last edited in July 2026, has no entry for Cinder's Cradle.
  • Fan-made interactive maps. We opened Map Genie and th.gl on 31 October 2026; neither is made by Keen Games. Both sort their locations into categories you can filter, such as Shroud Roots and chests, and Map Genie has a progress tracker. Because every save has the same world, a pin matches your world as long as the map is current. That day, Map Genie listed 8 Ancient Spires, the count on the wiki's list from before 1.0. th.gl already had locations in Cinder's Cradle and update log entries from 23 to 27 October 2026. It also offers a companion app with a "live overlay with player tracking", which we have not tried.

A quick test for any map: scroll to the far north. If it shows Cinder's Cradle with its spire, it knows 1.0. If it does not, treat it as an Early Access map.

The Enshrouded Map on a Dedicated Server

On a dedicated server the world lives on the server and each character stays on its player's PC, according to Keen's Dedicated Server FAQ. For the map that means:

  • Your uncovered map is yours. Keen's FAQ says a character keeps its "Map memory (locations and fog of war removed)", the "Towers you found by yourself" and its collected Shroud Roots on any server, but not "Towers that were found by others and shared with the group".
  • The Flame is the world's. Upgrading it gives bonus stats to every player on the server, and the altar cap counts for the whole world.
  • Markers stay private. Agree on meeting points in chat. Since 1.0 the compass shows the direction of other players correctly.
  • Exploration settings. In enshrouded_server.json you set time in the Shroud (shroudTimeFactor, 0.5 to 2), time in very cold areas (playerBodyHeatFactor: 0.5, 1, 1.5 or 2), glider turbulence (enableGliderTurbulences) and XP from exploring and quests (experienceExplorationQuestsFactor, 0.25 to 2). Single values only apply with "gameSettingsPreset": "Custom". Keen's settings page still shows the 0.9.0.0 default file and does not list the 1.0 setting for pushing back the Shroud. Our server settings guide explains every value.

FAQ

Is there an interactive map for Enshrouded 1.0? Yes, fan-made ones such as Map Genie and th.gl, neither made by Keen Games. On 31 October 2026 th.gl already showed Cinder's Cradle locations, while Map Genie listed 8 Ancient Spires, the count from before 1.0. Check the far north of any map before you rely on it.

How many regions does the Enshrouded map have? Seven, per the official wiki: the Springlands, Revelwood, Nomad Highlands, Kindlewastes, Albaneve Summits, Veilwater Basin and, since 1.0, Cinder's Cradle. The Low Meadows and the Blackmire are sub-regions.

Where is Cinder's Cradle on the map? In the north, through the gates past the Veilwater Basin that stayed closed until 1.0. The wiki gives it levels 45 to 50.

Is the Enshrouded map the same in every world? Yes. Keen's FAQ says the map is made with procedural tools and then finished by hand, and the Steam page calls it a handcrafted world.

Do I keep my uncovered map on another server? Yes. Your character keeps its map memory, the towers it found itself and its collected Shroud Roots. Towers that teammates found and shared with the group do not come along.

Can my friends see my map markers? No. Keen's 1.0 notes say custom map markers are only visible to the player who set them.
