Cobbleverse Icerend Seal: Radar Recipe and Chien-Pao Shrine (2026)

Published on

Where Icerend Seals drop in Cobbleverse, the exact radar recipe with Ice Gem and Dark Tera Shards, and how to find the Icerend Shrine to summon Chien-Pao.

Cobbleverse Icerend Seal guide

Quick answer: The Icerend Seal in Cobbleverse is loot, not a craft. Seals drop from Nether structure chests (bastions, nether fortresses, and ruined portals). Once you have two Icerend Seals, combine them with one Ice Gem and three Dark Tera Shards around a Poké Radar to craft the Chien-Pao radar. Follow that radar to the Icerend Shrine, then complete the ritual at the shrine to summon Chien-Pao.

A lot of players land here after searching for the Icerend Shrine in regular Cobblemon and finding stakes instead of seals. Those are two different systems. If you are playing plain Cobblemon with the Legendary Monuments mod, the stake mechanic is covered in our Cobblemon Icerend Shrine guide. This post is about Cobbleverse specifically, the LUMYVERSE modpack, where the seal and radar system sits on top.

What Cobbleverse Is

Cobbleverse is a Fabric modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 built around Cobblemon 1.7.3, with over 50 mods including Legendary Monuments, Mega Showdown, and the pack's own LumyMon legendary system. Version 1.7.3 added the Sinnoh region, a Team Galactic storyline, and three new dimensions (Origin, Nightmare, and Distortion World). Legendary encounters in the pack have a 2% shiny rate.

The four "ruinous" legendaries from Paldea each have their own shrine and their own seal:

SealShrineLegendary
Grasswither SealGrasswither ShrineWo-Chien
Icerend SealIcerend ShrineChien-Pao
Groundblight SealGroundblight ShrineTing-Lu
Firescourge SealFirescourge ShrineChi-Yu

The same steps below work for all four. Swap the seal and the gem type (Grass Gem for Wo-Chien, Fire Gem for Chi-Yu, Ground Gem for Ting-Lu) and you have the full set.

Step 1: Farm Icerend Seals in the Nether

Legendary seals drop from loot chests in three Nether structures: bastion remnants, nether fortresses, and ruined portals. Ruined portals also generate in the overworld, so check those chests too while you explore.

You need two Icerend Seals for the radar. Drops are not guaranteed per chest, so plan a proper Nether run rather than a quick peek. Fortress runs double up nicely since you probably want blaze rods anyway.

Step 2: Craft the Chien-Pao Radar

The radar is what makes the shrine findable. Shrine coordinates are randomized per world, so wandering the Nether and hoping is a bad plan. The recipe surrounds a base Poké Radar with:

  • 1x Ice Gem
  • 2x Icerend Seal
  • 3x Dark Tera Shard

Dark Tera Shards match Chien-Pao's Dark typing, which is the pattern for the other three as well: every ruinous radar wants three Dark Tera Shards plus the gem of the legendary's second type.

Step 3: Follow the Radar to the Icerend Shrine

The finished radar points toward your world's Icerend Shrine. The ruin shrines generate in the Nether, and the Icerend Shrine sits in basalt deltas terrain, so bring fire resistance and gear you do not mind losing to a stray ghast.

At the shrine, complete the ritual to trigger the encounter. If your shrine has glowing stakes generated around it, pull all of them first, that mechanic mirrors the ruinous stakes from the original games and blocks the summon until they are cleared.

Chien-Pao itself is a Dark and Ice type with very high attack and speed, and it hits Fighting weakness four times over. Bring a bulky Fighting type, something with status moves to keep it in place, and more Poké Balls than you think you need. Check the sparkle before you knock it out, the encounter has a 2% shiny chance and nobody wants to learn that after the faint.

Why Battle Turns Feel Slow on a Server

A common complaint on Cobbleverse servers is that battles hang between turns. That is almost never a battle setting. It is the server tick rate falling behind, because Cobbleverse generates a lot of chunks and runs 50+ mods at once. Three fixes that actually help:

  1. Give it enough RAM. 6GB is the realistic floor for a small group, 8GB or more if people spread out and explore. Cobblemon spawning plus new dimensions eat memory fast.
  2. Pregenerate your world. Chunk generation during play is the biggest single cause of tick lag in this pack. Pregenerate a few thousand blocks around spawn before friends join.
  3. Keep simulation distance modest. 8 chunks of simulation distance is plenty for Cobblemon gameplay and much cheaper than 12.

If you want the server side handled for you, our Minecraft hosting plans run Fabric packs like Cobbleverse on Ryzen 9 hardware with NVMe storage. The 8GB plan is the sweet spot for this pack with a group of friends.

FAQ

Can I get Icerend Seals without going to the Nether? Ruined portals in the overworld can carry them, but bastions and fortresses are the reliable farm. A Nether trip is the intended route.

Does the radar break after use? The radar is your compass to the shrine. Craft one per legendary you want to hunt, each of the four ruinous legendaries has its own radar recipe.

My radar points somewhere I already explored and there is no shrine. Shrine positions are randomized per world seed. Make sure you are following the Chien-Pao radar and not one of the other three, and keep in mind the ruin shrines generate in the Nether, not the overworld.

Is this the same as the Icerend Shrine in Cobblemon? Same shrine family, different unlock. Standalone Legendary Monuments uses the stake mechanic. Cobbleverse adds the seal loot and radar crafting so the hunt has clear steps. For the stake version, read the Cobblemon Icerend Shrine guide.
