Hytale Server Hosting 2026: Early Access Is Live, Here Is What Is Real

Published on | Updated

Hytale left the announcement stage and launched Early Access on January 13, 2026. Here are the confirmed launch facts, how dedicated servers actually work right now, and what running one honestly requires.

Hytale Server Hosting 2026

Hytale is not an upcoming game anymore. It launched Early Access on January 13, 2026, and by July it has a working modding scene, an active playerbase, and real dedicated servers running today. An earlier version of this page treated Hytale as unreleased months after that launch happened, which was wrong and we are correcting it here with what is actually verified as of today.

What Actually Happened on Launch Day

Hytale's Early Access launch on January 13, 2026 shipped on Windows, macOS, and Linux, built by Hypixel Studios (owned by Riot Games). A few things about that launch are worth separating into what is confirmed and what turned out to be noise:

  • Confirmed: Hytale surpassed one million players shortly after launch and briefly became the most watched game on Twitch outside the "Just Chatting" category, with peak concurrent viewership over 420,000.
  • Confirmed: the modding community moved fast. CurseForge, Hytale's official mod platform, recorded more than 10 million mod downloads within the first two weeks, and that kept growing to over 20 million downloads across 5,000-plus mods by March 2026.
  • Not confirmed, and worth knowing about: a widely shared "2.8 million concurrent players" figure went viral at launch, sourced from a screenshot of someone appearing to be a Hypixel Studios founder. A bug in the Early Access build briefly let any player join a server using any username, including impersonating developers, which is how the fake screenshot happened. Hypixel Studios never issued an official concurrent player count, and because Hytale is not on Steam, no independent service can verify one either. Treat any specific concurrent number you see quoted elsewhere with that in mind.

Critical reception on launch was mostly positive, with reviewers describing an unfinished but promising game, alongside some criticism of an early lack of direction outside its Creative and Exploration modes.

Where Hytale Stands Now

As of this update, Hytale offers Exploration and Creative modes across four zones. The story-driven Adventure Mode is still in development and has not shipped. Chapter 1, the first major content update, centered on goblin faction content, was previewed in July 2026 with an estimated two to three month window before release. None of that is out yet, so anything you read framed as "Chapter 1 features" should be treated as preview material, not shipped content.

Dedicated Servers Are Already Real

This is the part that matters most for server owners: Hytale dedicated servers are not a future promise, they work today. Hypixel Studios built community servers in from the start, with an in-game server browser and server-side modding through Java plugins and asset packs, similar in spirit to how Minecraft server plugins work but native to the game instead of bolted on.

What a Hytale Server Actually Needs

Two different tiers of information exist here, and it matters which one you are looking at.

Officially documented minimum, per Hytale's own Server Manual:

  • 4 GB RAM minimum
  • Java 25 runtime (the Adoptium/Temurin distribution is the one commonly recommended)
  • x64 or arm64 architecture, on 64-bit Windows or Linux
  • UDP port 5520, using QUIC rather than plain TCP

That is a bare floor for getting a server to start, not a real community. For an actual populated server, treat the following as a reasonable estimate based on how comparable Java-based, single-thread-heavy game servers like Minecraft scale, not an official Hypixel number: expect real headroom to start somewhere around 6 to 8 GB of RAM for a small to medium group, more once mods and plugins are involved, with a fast single-thread CPU mattering more than core count and NVMe storage keeping world and chunk loading smooth. If Hypixel publishes an official per-player-count sizing chart, that should override this estimate.

Getting a Server Running Today

  1. Update your Hytale client and confirm you are on the current Early Access build, since server and client versions need to match.
  2. Download the dedicated server files and Java 25 through Hytale's own channels and Server Manual documentation, since Early Access builds change.
  3. Pick hardware that can hit the official minimum comfortably, then leave room to grow. A server that barely clears 4 GB will struggle the moment more than a couple of players and any mods show up.

What Space-Node Offers Right Now

Being straightforward here: Space-Node does not have a dedicated, one-click Hytale hosting plan yet. Hytale hosting is new across the whole industry, and we would rather tell you that plainly than imply we have something we do not.

What we do have that genuinely works for this today is root access VPS hosting. A Hytale dedicated server is a Java application you run yourself, on Windows or Linux, and that is exactly what a Space-Node VPS gives you: full root or administrator access, your choice of 64-bit Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, and others) or Windows Server, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPUs, NVMe SSD storage, DDoS protection, and a Netherlands datacenter, starting from €3.40/month. Our 4GB plan (€5.50/month) lines up with Hytale's official minimum, and the 8GB plan (€11.10/month) gives realistic headroom for a small community.
