Your Discord is full of friends who want their own GTA RP city, and nearly all of them live in India. Niko Partners noted in August 2026 that in India "even roleplay within Grand Theft Auto has become popular on livestreaming platforms," so many of your players know a city from the viewer's side. Running one means deciding where the server sits, how many slots you can use, which framework to run, who gets in and when the city restarts. This guide covers what is specific to India; for the general setup, read our guide to making a FiveM server.
Quick answer: Host in Mumbai and start with 48 slots or fewer: more than 48 needs Element Club Argentum or higher on the Cfx.re account that owns your license key. Create that free key in the Cfx Portal with the account of the person who will own the city. In txAdmin's Popular Recipes, deploy ESX Legacy or Qbox, since the QBCore recipe left that list on 29 October 2026. Set your listing's language and Discord link in the Portal, use the Discord Server Roles allowlist for a whitelisted city, enter restart times on the server's clock rather than in IST, and check ping in game with cl_drawperf true.
Step 1: Count Your Peak, Then Check the Slot Rule
Count the players you expect online together on your busiest evening, not your Discord members. That number decides your plan and what you need from Cfx.re.
The slot rule comes from Cfx.re, not from your host. Its hosting provider guide says: "Remember that to use more than 48 slots, you will need FiveM Element Club Argentum or above, which can be obtained from the Cfx Portal." Take the subscription on the account that owns your server key. On 30 October 2026, fivem.net listed three tiers and warned that perks can take up to 6 hours to activate:
- Argentum, $15 a month plus VAT: up to 64 slots.
- Aurum, $25 a month plus VAT: up to 128 slots with OneSync Infinity.
- Platinum, $50 a month plus VAT: up to 2048 slots with OneSync Infinity.
After you subscribe, Cfx.re's server issues page says to use the latest server artifact, raise sv_maxclients to match your tier and restart. Without a subscription the server stays at 48, whatever RAM your plan has. Values from 32 up also need OneSync, according to the server commands reference, and the framework recipes in step 4 switch it on.
Step 2: Pick a Plan in Mumbai
Space-Node's India FiveM plans run in Mumbai: a Ryzen 9 3900X-class CPU shared with other servers on the node, DDR4 memory, NVMe storage and DDoS protection on every plan, with txAdmin pre-installed and full file access over SFTP. Monthly prices as of 30 October 2026, with rupees at the ECB reference rate of 29 October 2026 (€1 = ₹106.03):
| Plan | RAM | Slots | Per month | Approx. | Cfx.re needs |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FIVEM-XXSmall | 2 GB | up to 16 | €3.99 | ₹423 | nothing extra |
| FIVEM-XSmall | 4 GB | up to 32 | €7.99 | ₹847 | nothing extra |
| FIVEM-Small | 6 GB | up to 48 | €11.99 | ₹1,271 | nothing extra |
| FIVEM-Middle | 8 GB | up to 64 | €15.99 | ₹1,695 | Argentum or higher |
| FIVEM-Large | 12 GB | up to 96 | €23.99 | ₹2,544 | Aurum or higher |
Bigger plans run up to FIVEM-Xtreme (32 GB, up to 250 slots), and you can upgrade later without losing data. You pay in euros, monthly or yearly with 10% off (FIVEM-Small costs €129.49 a year). The order page names bank transfer, card and PayPal, plus iDEAL and Bancontact for Dutch and Belgian banks; UPI is not offered. Your bank or payment provider converts at its own rate, and the checkout notes that "VAT is calculated for your billing country." Framework recipes need a database, so ask support which database your plan uses before you deploy one. Moving from another host? Upload over SFTP, or add the one-time migration service (€15) at checkout. Pick India (Mumbai) on our FiveM hosting page. We quote no ping figure for Mumbai; step 8 shows how to measure your own. Our FiveM cost guide for India adds Element Club, paid scripts, maps and a domain to the monthly bill.
Step 3: Create the Key With the Owner's Account
Cfx.re's setup overview tells you to "register a free license key on the Cfx Portal", and txAdmin's deployer asks for it as the Server Registration Key. Our Cfx Portal key guide shows the clicks. Pick the account with care, because more hangs on it:
- Slots: the Element Club subscription from step 1.
- Paid scripts: escrowed resources, which creators sell through Tebex, start only on servers whose owner bought them. Otherwise, Cfx.re's Asset Escrow page says, the resource "will not start" and the console shows "You lack the required entitlement".
- Your listing: the server's public details, which you manage in the Portal (step 5).
Use the account of the person who will run the city for years, not a developer you hired for a month.
Step 4: Deploy ESX Legacy or Qbox From txAdmin
txAdmin's setup offers four ways in: Popular Recipes (marked recommended), Existing Server Data, Remote URL Template and Custom Template. The popular list comes from Cfx.re's txAdmin-recipes repository, which the setup page downloads. On 29 October 2026 that repository marked its QBCore recipe deprecated and dropped it from the list, leaving two FiveM roleplay frameworks on 30 October:
- ESX Legacy: "The official recipe of the most popular FiveM RP framework".
- Qbox: "The most modern and optimized framework, while compatible with QBCore resources."
Our ESX vs QBCore vs Qbox comparison covers the trade-offs, and it pays to check which frameworks the paid scripts you want support. Both recipes switch OneSync on and connect to a database while they deploy, and Qbox's installation docs say "Minimum to run Qbox: MariaDB 10.9.0" and "MySQL is not supported." In the deployer's Step 2, Input Parameters, paste your key and the database details, then run the recipe. Our txAdmin guide covers the remaining screens.
Step 5: Set Up Your Listing, Discord and Allowlist
Since 21 October 2026, the server list takes your public details from the Cfx Portal, not from server.cfg. Cfx.re's announcement lists "names, descriptions, tags, language settings, imagery, and your associated Discord link". Set the language your city plays in and add your Discord invite, since Discord is where players apply, read the rules and meet the staff. Our Missing server data fix shows the form.
Then connect Discord to txAdmin. In Settings, Discord, enable the bot and enter its token and your Guild/Server ID; the optional Warnings Channel ID is "The ID of the channel to send Announcements (eg server restarts)." In Settings, Allowlist, choose who gets in:
- Disabled: anyone; txAdmin only checks bans.
- Admin-only (maintenance mode): only your txAdmin admins, handy while you build.
- Discord Server Member: anyone in your Discord server.
- Discord Server Roles: members with one of the roles you list.
- Approved License: players an admin approves on the Allowlist page or with the bot's
/allowlistcommand.
For a whitelisted city, Discord Server Roles fits the usual flow: a player applies in Discord, staff interview them and give the role. Both Discord modes check the player's discord: identifier, so a player without one cannot join. Fill in the Allowlist Instructions too: txAdmin shows them on your server's page in the game and sends them to every player it turns away.
Step 6: Write Rules and Pick Staff
Write the rules in the language your players use in voice and chat, and pin them in Discord before launch. Cover the basics most cities enforce, which our GTA RP guide explains, then add your own: which languages are allowed in voice, how many characters a player may keep and how ban appeals work.
Give staff only the txAdmin permissions their job needs, for example:
- Support:
players.direct_message,players.warn,players.kick,players.spectate - Admins: the support set plus
players.ban,players.whitelistandannouncement - Developers:
console.view,commands.resources,server.cfg.editor,control.server - Owner only:
all_permissionsandmanage.admins
txAdmin's History page keeps every warn and ban, searchable by reason or player ID and filterable by admin, so a new admin can read the record before handling an appeal. Plan staff shifts around your players' evenings in IST. Our community admin guide covers how to structure a team.
Step 7: Schedule Restarts on the Server's Clock
Restart when the city is empty, for example early in the morning IST. In Settings, FXServer, the Restart Schedule takes 24-hour HH:MM times on the server's clock, and txAdmin's note says: "Make sure your schedule matches your server time and not your local time." If your browser's time zone differs from the server's, txAdmin shows a warning that names both.
IST is UTC+5:30 all year: the IANA time zone database has no daylight saving time for India since 1945. On a UTC server, subtract five and a half hours: 06:00 IST is 00:30 and 18:00 IST is 12:30. If txAdmin names a zone with daylight saving time, such as a European one, your IST restart shifts by an hour whenever that zone changes its clocks. After saving, check the Next Restart countdown in txAdmin's sidebar.
txAdmin warns players in the game 30, 15, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 minutes before a scheduled restart, and posts to the Discord warnings channel if you set one. If a restart or a deploy goes wrong during your evening session, Space-Node support answers live chat, Discord and email from 13:30 to 01:30 IST (08:00 to 20:00 UTC).
Step 8: Add Scripts in Batches and Measure Ping
Add scripts a few at a time and restart between batches, so you know which one broke the city. In the FiveM client, resmon shows each resource's CPU and memory use, but it is a developer command: the console command docs say to launch FiveM with +set moo 31337, or it answers with errors such as "Access denied for command resmon". Our resmon guide explains the numbers. Back up the framework database on a schedule too, since it holds characters, money and inventories; our backup guide covers it.
For ping, test before you announce the city. Ask five players in different cities to join during your evening peak, press F8 and run:
cl_drawperf true
The screen corner then shows Ping (ms), the round trip to the server, and PL (%), the packets that failed to arrive in time. Each player should test on the connection they play on: wired, Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot. If one player's numbers are far worse than the rest, the problem is on that player's route. On Windows, they can run this with your server's IP in place of the example address:
pathping /n 203.0.113.10
Per Microsoft's pathping reference, it sends 100 echo requests to each router on the path by default and reports the loss per hop. Loss that starts at one hop and continues to the end points to that link; loss at one router that later hops do not share means that router drops pings addressed to itself. If only the last hop shows full loss while the game runs fine, the server is not answering pings, so trust the in-game PL value.
FAQ
Do my players need to own GTA V? Yes. Cfx.re's buying guide says FiveM "requires a fully updated installation of GTAV" and "will not work with illegitimate versions". FiveM installs from FiveM.exe and starts from the Windows start menu, so friends who only play on phones or consoles cannot join your city.
Can I still run QBCore? Yes, but not in one click. The deployer's Remote URL Template takes a recipe URL in YAML format, and the QBCore project still publishes its recipe on GitHub. Because the txAdmin-recipes index now marks it deprecated, read that repository's recent changes before you rely on it.
Can players send me UPI payments for VIP or a priority queue? No. Cfx.re's Tebex page calls Tebex the exclusive monetization partner of FiveM and says "The use of any other platform or payment provider is prohibited and is a violation of the Platform License Agreement." A UPI ID that collects money for perks is such another provider. Sell perks through a Tebex store instead; you pick its currency when you create the project.
Can txAdmin's warnings and messages be in Hindi?
Not out of the box. txAdmin 8.1.2 ships 35 language files for its in-game menu, chat messages and Discord warnings, and none is Hindi, Tamil or Telugu. Its translation docs give a workaround: create txData/locale.json from any language file, write your own phrases and pick Custom under Settings, General, Language. The docs note that a custom locale may not perform well on big servers.
