Best Hytale Server Hosting 2026: Prices and RAM Compared

Published on

Hytale server hosting compared on 25 October 2026: entry prices at six hosts with links to each page, what Hypixel's own server manual asks for, how much RAM a group needs, and what to check before you update or list a server.

Three Hytale characters talking next to a village notice board

The right Hytale host depends on how many people play and how far they explore. On 25 October 2026, a 4GB Hytale server, the minimum Hypixel's server manual asks for, cost €4.00 a month at Space-Node, €11.80 per 30 days at G-Portal and about €13.40 at Host Havoc, while three other hosts listed starting prices of about €8.90 to €11.20 on their overview pages without saying how much RAM those include.

We sell Hytale servers ourselves, so every competitor price below links to that host's own page as it was on 25 October 2026. First, what Hypixel says a server needs, because that decides which plans are worth comparing at all.

What a Hytale server needs, according to Hypixel

ItemHypixel's figure
MemoryAt least 4GB (server manual)
JavaJava 25
CPU architecturex64 or arm64
NetworkQUIC over UDP, port 5520 by default, changed with --bind
Game versionThe same protocol version as the players. Hypixel's documentation lists release 0.7.4 as current on 25 October 2026
View distanceCapped at 32 chunks since Update 7: a MaxViewRadius outside 1 to 32 in config.json is clamped with a warning (Update 7 notes)
World size on diskAbout 661 MB for 5,000 by 5,000 blocks of explored Exploration Mode world, or about 27 KB per 32x32 chunk (hardware post)

The 4GB is a floor for starting the server, not a measured player capacity. The manual names view distance as a driver of memory use, and Hypixel's hardware post explains why: "every time you double the view distance (e.g. 192 -> 384), you quadruple the amount of world around you", with four times as many blocks and NPCs to keep in memory and simulate. The manual recommends limiting the maximum view distance to 12 chunks (384 blocks), and on a server, lowering MaxViewRadius is the simplest way to make the same plan carry more players.

The same post also shows how much a server sends. Hypixel measured the download a player needs in a worst case, travelling fast through new terrain: 2 to 4 Mbit/s at a view distance of 192 blocks, 4.5 to 7 Mbit/s at 384 and 6 to 10 Mbit/s at 480. Whatever players download, the server uploads. That matters little in a data center, and a lot on a home connection.

How much RAM your group needs

Hypixel publishes no RAM figure per player, so these are our own sizes, the ones our plans and our Hytale RAM guide use:

GroupRAM
You and a few friends on a fresh world4GB, the minimum
A small community6GB, the comfortable size
More players and a larger explored world8GB
Big groups and heavy worlds12GB

The RAM guide puts a community of 20 to 30 players at 8 to 10GB and a public server past 50 players at 12GB or more, as a starting point. Explored area and view distance move these numbers more than the player count does, so watch memory during your busiest evening rather than on an empty server, and move up a size when the world grows.

How to read it:

  • Among plans that state their RAM, our 4GB Small had the lowest price in this table, and our 12GB Extreme cost the same as G-Portal's 4GB plan after its first period.
  • Starting prices say nothing about the RAM you get for them, so compare them only after you know the size.
  • G-Portal's discount "only applies to the initial contract period", in G-Portal's own words. Its 4GB plan is €11.80 per 30 days after that.
  • Our USA plans cost €0.10 per GB of RAM more (Small €4.40, Extreme €13.00). Prices in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, Singapore, India and Australia are the same as in the table.

What the price table leaves out

  • CPU. Our Hytale servers run on a shared AMD Ryzen 9: 3900X-class in Europe, Canada and India, 7950X3D with DDR5 in the USA and 5950X in Singapore and Australia. Hypixel's hardware post calls Hytale a game that "cares more about CPU performance and RAM than many other games", and on a server the world generation, NPCs and voxel logic all run on that CPU.
  • Where the server is. We run Hytale in nine regions: the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, California, Virginia, Singapore, Mumbai and Sydney. There is no UK node: the United Kingdom option in our plan selector orders a server in the Netherlands. G-Portal's plans above are located in Central Europe.
  • Verification badges. G-Portal advertises its servers as "Official Hytale Verified", tested by Hypixel Studios according to G-Portal's page. Space-Node does not carry that badge.
  • Trying before you pay. Indifferent Broccoli advertises "2 days free" on any game without a credit card. We do not offer a free trial or a money-back guarantee.
  • What you can change. On our plans you get full access to the server files, so you edit config.json, add server mods and copy the world yourself. If the world outgrows its plan, you move up and your files come with you.

Before you update a Hytale server

Hytale updates often, and the server has to follow its players. Since Chapter I (Update 7, released on 12 October 2026), three things matter on update day:

  1. Copy the world first. Stop the server and copy universe/, your mods/ and the config files to a folder outside the server folder.
  2. Keep the server out of the launcher's folder. Since Update 7 the server "refuses to boot" when what it writes would land inside the Hytale launcher's install folder, and exits with code 11. Run it from a folder of its own.
  3. Update when Hypixel releases. The server manual puts it plainly: client and server "must be on the exact same protocol version", and when an update comes out, "servers must update immediately or players on the new version cannot connect".

Update 8 has been on the pre-release patchline since 22 October 2026, and its notes already list changes for servers: dedicated servers start on the quiche network library instead of netty, global world events move from universe/events.json to universe/resources/GlobalWorldEvents.json ("A server older than this change does not read the new file"), and legacy worldgen v1 JSON no longer loads, so packs that still ship it have to be rebuilt. Our Chapter I server guide has the full checklist, including the exit code 11 fix and what changed for plugins.

Getting into the in-game server list

Hytale has an official server browser for community servers. Hypixel's server list post explains how a server gets in: you create a server profile in the Account Manager, pick a type, an audience tag and the regions you serve, and submit it for moderation. Once accepted, your server sends a heartbeat with its discovery token, and if the heartbeats stop for more than two minutes the listing is hidden until the server is back. There is one listing per game profile. Verifying a domain through a TXT record is optional: you can list by IP, you just do not get the verification mark.

Hosting it yourself instead

The server files come with the game: the manual says you can copy them from your launcher installation or download them with the Hytale Downloader, and its requirements are modest. If one of you has a PC with memory to spare and your group plays at the same times, hosting from home works. Two things decide whether it holds up. You have to forward UDP port 5520 to that PC, and your upload has to keep up with the per-player numbers above, which on many home connections means a small group at a moderate view distance. For a server that stays up when its owner logs off, a rented plan or a VPS is the easier route.

If you want a server without running it yourself, our Hytale server hosting has all four plans with a live ping check per region, from €4.00 a month for 4GB.

FAQ

How much does a Hytale server cost? On 25 October 2026, a 4GB server cost €4.00 a month at Space-Node, €11.80 per 30 days at G-Portal (€8.85 for the first period) and about €13.40 at Host Havoc. Three other hosts listed starting prices of about €8.90 to €11.20 without a RAM size.

How much RAM does a Hytale server need? Hypixel's server manual asks for at least 4GB. A small community is more comfortable on 6GB, and larger groups and heavily explored worlds need 8GB or more. View distance changes the number more than anything else.

Which port does a Hytale server use? UDP port 5520 by default, over QUIC. You can change it with the --bind argument. TCP forwarding is not needed.

Can I host a Hytale server for free? Yes, on your own hardware. The server files come with the game, in your launcher installation, so you can run a server on your own PC if it has at least 4GB of memory to spare and Java 25. The server is only online while that PC is, and every player needs their own copy of the game.

Does my Hytale server have to match my players' version? Yes. Hypixel's server manual says client and server "must be on the exact same protocol version", so update the server as soon as an update is released, after copying the world.
