Chromite comes from Feybreak, mostly from its caves and dungeons, where a Metal Detector or a Smokie in your party shows you the veins. Ancient Civilization Cores drop from the raid bosses Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero and Blazamut Ryu and from the main chest on an Oil Rig, and Pure Quartz sits in the snowy regions, which Pocketpair says hold more of it since 1.0.
Pocketpair's 1.0 changelog and later patch notes name only a few locations. Everything else below is something both community wikis, palworld.wiki.gg and the Palworld Fandom wiki, agree on. Where only one of them has it, or they disagree, it is left out, which is also why there are no map coordinates here. Checked on 25 October 2026, game version v1.0.5.

Chromite and Hexolite Quartz
Chromite is "a type of metal buried underground", as the item description puts it, and unlike most resources you need help to find it. Both wikis place it mainly in the caves and dungeons of Feybreak. Bring a Metal Detector, or put Smokie in your party: its Partner Skill marks the Chromite around it so you can mine it. Silvegis also drops Chromite when you defeat or capture it.
Hexolite Quartz is found only in Feybreak, and Celesdir drops it. You need both for Hexolite, the alloy of Chromite and Hexolite Quartz that a Gigantic Furnace refines and that a long list of late game armor, saddles and weapons asks for. If you are planning a Feybreak trip, plan for both.
Ancient Civilization Cores and Parts
Ancient Civilization Cores come from:
- The raid bosses Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero and Blazamut Ryu.
- The main chest on an Oil Rig, 1 to 5 at a time.
- Xenolord and Moon Lord.
- Pal Expeditions, the harder ones in particular.
Ancient Civilization Parts are easier: defeat or capture Alpha Pals and Lucky Pals, open rare chests, or send Pals on expeditions.
You need Parts for the Egg Incubator (2 each), and Cores for AI Cores, the Electric Egg Incubator, the Wing Pack and the 1.0 Ancient Hatchery, which alone takes 20 Cores and 30 Parts. Our Palworld breeding guide covers what the Ancient Hatchery does.
1.0 added a third item, the Ancient Civilization Relic. Pocketpair says it "can only be obtained in the new area, the World Tree", and that "using a special device, it can be converted into items useful for crafting and enhancement".
Pure Quartz
Pure Quartz is found in the snowy regions, and Pocketpair's 1.0 notes say they "increased the amount of Pure Quartz obtainable in snowy regions". Astegon and Frostallion Noct drop it as well. Both wikis also list a Pure Quartz Quarry that you can build at a base.
Coal
The item description says Coal is "often found in caves and other places". Base Pals need Mining at level 3 to work coal rocks, so a Pal with a lower Mining level leaves them alone. Blazamut, Blazamut Ryu and Menasting drop Coal too.
Sulfur
Sulfur "can be found in volcanoes and such", in the item's own words. Both wikis put the larger deposits in the volcano region and smaller amounts in early game dungeons. Look for large yellow rocks. For a steady supply, build a Sulfur Mine at your base. You need Sulfur for Gunpowder.
Crude Oil
- Crude Oil Extractor: has to stand on an oil field.
- High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor: new in 1.0 and, in Pocketpair's words, it "can extract crude oil even without an oil field". Patch v1.0.3 on 12 August cut the building cost of both extractors and the Large Power Generator and raised the crude oil production speed of both extractors. Both need a lot of power.
- Oil Rigs: the main chests hold Crude Oil, and the Syndicate enemies on the rigs drop it.
- Pals: Kikit, Maraith and Sootseer drop it about half the time.
If you have the power, the High-Pressure extractor at your own base saves the trip to an oil field.
Ancient Bone and the Wildlife Sanctuaries
Ancient Bone, new in 1.0, comes from the Ancient Bone skeletons in the No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. 1.0 turned the three Wildlife Sanctuaries into protected areas with "unique scenery, Pals that can only be found there, rare materials, and powerful bosses", watched by defense drones. Pocketpair's advice: "Sneak onto the islands and avoid the searchlights, or go in loud".
Coralum Ore
Coralum Ore drops from Whalaska, Whalaska Ignis and Neptilius, and turns up at salvage spots. Neither wiki lists a mining node for it, so plan on hunting or salvaging. It goes into the Beginner and Intermediate Fishing Rods.
Soralite and Paloxite, the 1.0 ores
Pocketpair is clear on these two: "Soralite can only be mined in Sunreach, and Paloxite only at the World Tree." It also says Sunreach has "ores that can only be mined using specialized equipment", so expect to unlock better tools before you mine there. Jetragon and Pierdon Cryst drop Soralite, and both wikis list a Soralite Quarry for your base.
Paloxite Ingots need both Paloxite and Soralite, and the Ancient Hatchery alone takes 100 of them. The Corrosive Mist Mask also uses Paloxite.
Leather
Leather drops from a long list of Pals. These are on both wikis: Foxparks, Rushoar, Melpaca, Direhowl, Eikthyrdeer, Fuack, Vixy, Kitsun, Gorirat and Mammorest. Capturing a Pal gives the drops too, and you keep the Pal.
Without hunting: Surfent can produce Leather when assigned to a Ranch (Pocketpair's v1.0.3 notes fixed a bug that stopped Alpha Surfent from doing so), and the Wandering Merchant sells it.
Work Suitability books
For the items that raise a Pal's Work Suitability, such as the Applied Ranching Handbook I, Pocketpair's 1.0 notes say they "adjusted things so that Applied Technique items are easier to obtain", added the "Applied Ranching Handbook I", and that Lucky Pals "now provide Work Suitability enhancement items". Lucky Pals are the one source Pocketpair names.
Let the base do the walking
From the same 1.0 notes:
- The Ancient Material Synthesizer "can produce various materials such as ore".
- Pocketpair "increased ore distribution in the overworld, expanding viable base location options".
- Higher tier pickaxes and axes now gather more resources.
- The Plasma Multicutter gathers ore and wood and works while riding.
If you run the world yourself, four lines in PalWorldSettings.ini change the grind for everyone: CollectionDropRate (gatherable items multiplier), CollectionObjectHpRate (how much health rocks and trees have), CollectionObjectRespawnSpeedRate (how fast they come back) and EnemyDropItemRate (how much defeated Pals drop), all described in Pocketpair's configuration docs. On a Palworld server for a group, agree on those values before the first session, because changing them later changes the economy everyone has built on.
