- Ryzen 9 3900XShared CPU
- Growing group, the Docker file's 8GB heap
- 12GB RAM
- 70GB NVMe
- Pterodactyl panel included
- DDoS Protection Included
TerraFirmaGreg publishes no player counts. These sizes follow its own server files (just under 6GB of heap in the start script, 8GB in the Docker file) plus memory for Java itself.
3 server port allocations included. Up to 5 available on request.
Instant setup in your selected region.
CPU matters
Minecraft cares about single-thread speed. In the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Canada, Premium runs Ryzen 9 9950X and Standard Ryzen 9 3900X-class. California and Virginia run the 7950X3D on Standard and the 9950X on Premium, Singapore and Australia the 5950X, and India the 3900X-class. The CPU is shared on every plan.
Protection choices
DDoS protection is included on every plan in every region. Premium in Europe and Canada and every USA plan run behind Cloudflare Magic Transit; Standard, Singapore, Australia and India use standard protection. There is no paid add-on.
Panel included
Console, files, backups, schedules, startup flags, and sub-users are ready.
9 regions
Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, USA (California), USA (Virginia), Singapore, India (Mumbai), and Australia. EU, NA, Asia, South Asia, and Oceania covered.

Sized from the pack's own files
How we sized the TerraFirmaGreg plans
The pack's own files give two heap sizes. Its server pack starts Java with -Xmx6024M, just under 6GB, and the Docker file the TFG team publishes next to it on GitHub sets 8GB. Java needs memory on top of the heap for itself, so we keep the heap at about 80 to 85 percent of the plan, as in our guide to exit code 137: 8GB fits the server pack's heap, and 12GB fits the Docker file's 8GB with room to spare. The TFG wiki asks players to give the game 6 to 8GB on their own computers; that figure is for the game, not the server. The pack gives no player counts.
Small group
MC Diamond, 8GB RAM
The server pack as it ships: its start script gives Java just under 6GB (-Xmx6024M), which leaves about 2GB of the plan for Java itself. Keep -Xmx at 6G to 7G.
Standard €7.20, Premium €13.99 a month
Our suggestion
Growing group
MC Special 1, 12GB RAM
Room for the 8GB heap of the TFG team's own Docker setup plus memory for Java. Set -Xmx between 8G and 10G.
Standard €10.80, Premium €21.99 a month
Bigger group
MC Special 3, 16GB RAM
Room to raise the heap to 13G or 14G when players build their own bases across the map, run more GregTech machines and keep more chunks loaded.
Standard €14.40, Premium €27.99 a month
Setup
From order to first join
Step 1
Pick 8GB or more and a region
Your server and control panel login arrive by email after payment.
Step 2
Install Forge, then the server pack
Install Forge 1.20.1-47.4.13 from the panel. Download TerraFirmaGreg-Modern-0.13.16-serverpack.zip from the pack's GitHub releases, unpack it and upload the contents over SFTP. Set Java 17 and a heap that fits your plan, start once, accept the EULA in eula.txt and start again.
Step 3
Keep the TFC world type, match the version
Leave level-type=tfc:overworld in the server pack's server.properties until the world exists. Players install TerraFirmaGreg-Modern 0.13.16, the same version as the server.
Running the server
TerraFirmaGreg things worth knowing before you start
The server pack is on GitHub
The CurseForge download has no server pack. Each recent release on the pack's GitHub has one (TerraFirmaGreg-Modern-0.13.16-serverpack.zip, about half a gigabyte), next to a Docker file and the CurseForge, Modrinth and MultiMC versions of the pack.
Torches burn out
A torch goes out after 72 in-game hours, about an hour of real time, and a candle after 744. The TFG team suggests longer times when players have separate bases; torchTicks and candleTicks are in world/serverconfig/tfc-server.toml. Permanent light comes with the LV tier.
Food decays at half the TFC rate
The server config sets foodDecayModifier = 0.5. The TFG team suggests 1.0, the TFC default, for small groups that share a base, and 0.25 for big servers with players in many time zones. It sits in the same tfc-server.toml.
A daily backup inside the server folder
FTB Backups 2 makes a ZIP backup once a day at 10:15 server time when players have been online, and keeps the last 3. They count against your plan's storage. Take a backup in the panel before every update as well.
Chunk claims grow with playtime
A new player can claim 10 chunks and force-load 2; after a day of playtime that becomes 50 and 8, and the allowances of team members add up. Force-loaded chunks only run while someone from the team is online.
Voice chat needs its own port
The pack includes Simple Voice Chat, which uses UDP port 24454 by default. Every plan includes 3 port allocations: create one in the Network tab of the panel, set port= in config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties to that port and restart.
Updates come often
The team published 17 versions of 0.13 between 21 June and 25 October 2026. Their wiki updates a server in a fresh folder: unpack the new server pack, copy the world, backups and files such as the whitelist across, then start it. Back up in the panel first.
Chunky is included
The server pack ships Chunky, so you can generate the terrain around spawn from the console before your group spreads out, instead of while everyone explores. The pack's server.properties keeps view and simulation distance at 8.

TerraFirmaGreg Hosting FAQ
- We suggest 12GB (MC Special 1). The pack's own files give two heap sizes: the server pack's start script runs Java with -Xmx6024M, just under 6GB, and the Docker file the TFG team publishes next to it on GitHub sets 8GB. Java needs memory on top of the heap, so we keep the heap at about 80 to 85 percent of the plan: 8GB (MC Diamond) fits the server pack's heap for a small group, and 12GB fits the 8GB heap with room to spare. For a bigger group with bases spread over the map, 16GB (MC Special 3). The pack publishes no player counts.
- TerraFirmaGreg-Modern 0.13.16 runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.13, as the server pack's forge-auto-install.txt and the team's Docker file both say. Minecraft 1.20.1 is built for Java 17. You can pick the Java version in the Startup tab of the panel.
- On the pack's GitHub releases page, not on CurseForge: the CurseForge download has no server pack. For 0.13.16 the file is TerraFirmaGreg-Modern-0.13.16-serverpack.zip, about half a gigabyte. It holds the mods, config, defaultconfigs and kubejs folders, a server.properties with the TFC world type, start scripts and a README. The same GitHub release also has a Docker file and the CurseForge, Modrinth and MultiMC versions of the pack.
- Take a backup in the panel first. The TFG wiki updates a server by unpacking the new server pack into a separate folder, copying the world, the backups and server files such as the whitelist across, and starting it, and only then deleting the old install. Read the upgrade guide for bigger steps: moving a world from 0.12 to 0.13 also means wiping the Beneath, the DIM-1 folder in the world. The team published 17 versions of 0.13 between 21 June and 25 October 2026, so updates come often.
- Yes. Every player needs the same version as the server, so 0.13.16 on both sides. The TFG wiki says a mod mismatch error, even when the versions look the same, usually means a player did not update cleanly, and its answer is a clean reinstall of the pack in the launcher. It also asks players to give the game 6 to 8GB of RAM on their own computers.
- Yes, once it has its own port. The pack ships Simple Voice Chat, which sends audio over UDP on port 24454 by default. Every plan includes 3 port allocations at no cost: create one in the Network tab of the panel, set port= in config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties to that port, leave voice_host empty and restart the server.
- That is TerraFirmaCraft, and the server config sets it. Torches burn out after 72 in-game hours, about an hour of real time, and candles after 744, about 10 hours. Food still spoils, but at half the TFC default rate (foodDecayModifier = 0.5). The TFG team suggests longer torch and candle times when players have separate bases, 1.0 for food when a small group shares a base, and 0.25 for big servers with players in many time zones. The settings are in world/serverconfig/tfc-server.toml, which Forge copies from defaultconfigs when the world is created.
- Yes. FTB Backups 2 is on: once a day at 10:15 server time, when players have been online since the last backup, it writes a ZIP backup inside the server folder and keeps the last 3. Those files count against your plan's storage. Change the schedule or the number kept in config/ftbbackups2.json, and still take a backup in the panel before every update.
- The pack sets it with FTB Ranks. A new player can claim 10 chunks and force-load 2; after a day of playtime that becomes 50 and 8, and the allowances of players on the same team add up. Force-loaded chunks only run while someone from the team is online. The pack's defaults are in defaultconfigs/ftbranks/ranks.snbt.
- Yes. Upload the world folder over SFTP, set level-name in server.properties to its folder name and run the same TFG version the world was last played on. Or add the One-time Server Migration when you order: it costs €15, charged once, and our team transfers the world for you.
- No, it is for TerraFirmaGreg-Modern on Minecraft 1.20.1. TerraFirmaGreg-Vintage is a separate pack on Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge; its newest version is 4.5.12 from 25 January 2025. We have not checked its server files or sized it, so ask us in live chat before you order.
- The one closest to most of your players. We run TerraFirmaGreg servers in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, the USA (California and Virginia), Singapore, India and Australia. The plan selector measures your ping to each region live from your browser and suggests the fastest.
- Yes. Our support team answers by live chat, Discord and email, 12/7 from 08:00 to 20:00 UTC, and can look at your startup settings and heap with you.
