Instant setup in your selected region.
CPU matters
Minecraft cares about single-thread speed. In the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Canada, Premium runs Ryzen 9 9950X. Standard runs the AMD EPYC 7443 in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland and Ryzen 9 3900X-class in Canada. California and Virginia run the 7950X3D on Standard and the 9950X on Premium, Singapore and Australia the 5950X, and India the 3900X-class. The CPU is shared on every plan.
Protection choices
DDoS protection is included on every plan in every region. Premium in Europe and Canada and every USA plan run behind Cloudflare Magic Transit; Standard, Singapore, Australia and India use standard protection. There is no paid add-on.
Panel included
Console, files, backups, schedules, startup flags, and sub-users are ready.
9 regions
Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, USA (California), USA (Virginia), Singapore, India (Mumbai), and Australia. EU, NA, Asia, South Asia, and Oceania covered.

Sized from the server pack
How we sized the Cave Horror Project plans
The official server pack holds 133 mods and sets no Java heap: the only -Xmx line in user_jvm_args.txt is Forge's commented-out example of 4GB for a modded server. 133 mods also sits inside the 100 to 150 mods our 6GB plan is built for. Java needs memory on top of the heap for itself, so we keep the heap at about 80 to 85 percent of the plan, as in our guide to exit code 137. The pack gives no player counts or RAM advice, so the sizes below follow the size of your group.
Smallest start
MC Lapis, 6GB RAM
Room for a heap of about 5GB, more than the 4GB that Forge's template in user_jvm_args.txt suggests for a modded server, and the plan whose card lists packs of 100 to 150 mods. Enough to try the pack or to start a world with a small group.
Standard €5.40, Premium €10.50 a month
Our suggestion
Group of friends
MC Diamond, 8GB RAM
A heap of about 6.5GB (-Xmx6500M). Players who split up load more of the world and spawn more mobs at the same time, and this pack adds a lot of hostile mobs.
Standard €7.20, Premium €13.99 a month
Bigger group or public server
MC Special 1, 12GB RAM
A heap of about 10GB, for a larger group, a public server, or a world you pregenerate with Chunky while people play.
Standard €10.80, Premium €21.99 a month
Multiplayer horror
Voice chat and walkie-talkies
The pack is built to be played together: Simple Voice Chat lets you hear the people near you, and Simple Voice Radio adds walkie-talkies for when your group splits up. Both ship in the server pack. They only need one thing from your server: a UDP port of their own.
On your Space-Node server
- Create a port in the Network tab of the panel. Every plan includes 3 port allocations at no cost.
- Open config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties, which the server pack ships with port=24454.
- Set port= in that file to the new port, leave voice_host empty and restart. The radios work once voice chat does.
On your own PC
- The pack's server guide has you install Hamachi so friends can reach you.
- You forward port 25565 and UDP port 24454 on your firewall and your router.
- The server only runs while your PC is on.
On our servers none of that is needed: the server has its own address and runs when you are offline, and friends join with the address from the panel.
Setup
From order to first join
Step 1
Pick 6GB or more and a region
Your server and control panel login arrive by email after payment.
Step 2
Install Forge, then the server pack
Install Forge 1.20.1-47.4.23 from the panel, unpack the v3.6.1 server pack and upload its contents over SFTP, or use the panel's modpack installer if Cave Horror Project is listed there. Set Java 17 and a heap that fits your plan, then start the server.
Step 3
Match the version, open voice chat
Players install Cave Horror Project v3.6.1 in the CurseForge app or the Modrinth app, the same version as the server. For voice chat, create a port in the Network tab and set it in config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties.
Running the server
Cave Horror Project things worth knowing before you start
The server pack sets no heap
user_jvm_args.txt only holds Forge's commented-out example line, # -Xmx4G. Add an -Xmx line that fits your plan, or set the heap in the panel's startup settings: about -Xmx5G on 6GB, -Xmx6500M on 8GB and -Xmx10G on 12GB, so Java keeps room for itself.
Forge 47.4.23 comes installed
The libraries folder already holds Forge 47.4.23, and run.sh starts it with user_jvm_args.txt, so the pack needs no installer run. Keep the server on Forge 47.4.23 and Java 17, the versions the pack is built on.
eula.txt is already set to true
The server pack ships an eula.txt that says eula=true. Uploading it accepts the Minecraft EULA for you, so read the EULA before the first start.
Chunky is included
Before your group starts exploring, set a radius with chunky radius in the console and run chunky start, so the server is not busy generating caves and terrain while people play. The pack's Chunky config does not resume a run after a restart, so use chunky continue if the server restarts halfway.
Back up before every update
The server pack has no backup mod, and new versions replace mods and configs. Take a backup in the panel before every update or mod change. Panel backups are made by hand; automatic off-site backups are an optional add-on at checkout.
Start from the server pack
The client pack also carries Oculus, Embeddium, several shader packs and the Enhanced Audio sound pack, which the server pack leaves out. Build the server from the v3.6.1 server pack, not from a copy of your own game folder.

Cave Horror Project Hosting FAQ
- We start Cave Horror Project at 6GB (MC Lapis), suggest 8GB (MC Diamond) for a group of friends and 12GB (MC Special 1) for a bigger group or a public server. The pack publishes no RAM advice or player counts of its own, and its server pack, with 133 mods, sets no Java heap. Java needs memory on top of the heap for itself, so we keep the heap at about 80 to 85 percent of the plan: about 5GB on 6GB, 6.5GB on 8GB and 10GB on 12GB.
- v3.6.1 runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.23. Minecraft 1.20.1 is built for Java 17, and the pack's own server guide accepts Java 17 or 21. You can pick the Java version in the Startup tab of the panel.
- On the Cave Horror Project CurseForge page, open the Files tab, pick v3.6.1 and look under Additional Files for the v3.6.1 Server Pack (about 440 MB). Every version has one. It holds the run.sh and run.bat start scripts, user_jvm_args.txt, eula.txt and the config, kubejs, libraries and mods folders, with Forge 47.4.23 already installed in libraries. Use it instead of a copy of your own game folder: the client pack also carries shaders, a sound pack and other mods that only belong on a player's PC.
- Give voice chat its own port. The server pack includes Simple Voice Chat and Simple Voice Radio, and its config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties sets UDP port 24454. Every plan includes 3 port allocations at no cost: create one in the Network tab of the panel, set port= in that file to the new port, leave voice_host empty and restart the server. The pack's wiki says the radios need no extra setup once voice chat works.
- No. The pack's server guide explains Hamachi and router port forwarding because it covers hosting on your own PC. Your Space-Node server has its own address and ports, so friends join with the address from the panel, and the voice chat port is created in the Network tab instead of on your router.
- Because the server pack sets no heap. Its user_jvm_args.txt only holds Forge's commented-out example line (# -Xmx4G). If neither that file nor the startup settings set -Xmx, Java picks its own limit, by default a quarter of the memory it sees. Add a line such as -Xmx6500M on 8GB (about 5G on 6GB, 10G on 12GB) and restart.
- Yes. Everyone needs the same pack version as the server, so v3.6.1 on both sides. Players can install it through the CurseForge app or the Modrinth app; the pack has more than 6.2 million downloads on CurseForge and nearly 2 million on Modrinth (checked 25 October 2026).
- Yes. v3.6.1 came out on 1 October 2026 and v3.6 on 10 September 2026; v3.6 moved the pack to Forge 47.4.23 and added new Cave Dweller drops. Check the Files tab before you set up a server, in case a newer version has come out since we checked on 25 October 2026, and back up the world before every update.
- No. The shaders, the Enhanced Audio sound pack and the other visual mods come with the client pack and run on each player's PC; the server pack carries none of them. A player with a slow PC can turn the shaders off in the video settings without changing anything on the server.
- Yes. Download the world folder from your old host and upload it over SFTP, set level-name in server.properties to its folder name and make sure the server runs the same pack version the world was last played on. Or add the One-time Server Migration when you order: it costs €15, charged once, and our team transfers the world for you.
- The one closest to most of your players. We run Cave Horror Project servers in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Canada, the USA (California and Virginia), Singapore, India and Australia. The plan selector measures your ping to each region live from your browser and suggests the fastest.
- Yes. Our support team answers by live chat, Discord and email, 12/7 from 08:00 to 20:00 UTC, and can check the Forge version, the Java version and the heap with you.
