Satisfactory Server Requirements (2026)

Published on

What hardware a Satisfactory dedicated server needs: RAM, CPU, storage, ports, and how requirements scale with factory complexity and player count.

Satisfactory dedicated server requirements

Satisfactory dedicated servers are surprisingly demanding because the game simulates every conveyor belt, machine, and power connection in real time. Here are the real requirements and how they scale.

Minimum server requirements

  • CPU: 4 cores at 3.0 GHz or higher.
  • RAM: 6 GB minimum (8 GB recommended).
  • Storage: 10 GB SSD (NVMe preferred for save loading speed).
  • Network: stable connection with ports 15777, 15000, and 7777 forwarded (UDP).
  • OS: Windows Server 2019+ or Linux (SteamCMD).

These minimums work for a fresh world with 1-2 players. Once you build large factories, requirements increase significantly.

How requirements scale

Satisfactory server load scales with factory complexity, not just player count:

StageRAMCPUNotes
Early game (1-2 players)6 GB2 coresMinimal factory, few machines
Mid game (2-4 players)8-10 GB3 coresMultiple factories, trains
Late game (4-8 players)12-16 GB4 coresMega factories, nuclear power
Mega base16+ GB4+ coresThousands of machines, heavy simulation

The single biggest performance factor is the number of active machines and conveyor belt segments. A world with 2,000 machines running simultaneously needs far more RAM and CPU than a world with 200.

SSD vs HDD

An SSD is strongly recommended. Satisfactory save files can be hundreds of megabytes for large worlds, and saving/loading on an HDD causes noticeable lag spikes. NVMe storage eliminates this.

Dedicated server installation

Install the Satisfactory dedicated server via SteamCMD:

  1. Install SteamCMD on your server.
  2. Run: steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit
  3. Configure GameUserSettings.ini in the server directory.
  4. Open ports 15777, 15000, and 7777 (UDP) in your firewall.
  5. Start the server executable.

The short answer

Start with 8 GB RAM and 4 cores for a comfortable experience. Scale to 12-16 GB for late-game mega factories. Use SSD storage and make sure the required UDP ports are open.
