No. Enshrouded is not cross-platform: PC (Steam) and PlayStation 5 players cannot play together, and Keen Games said on 13 October 2026 that it is working on cross-platform play but has "no current estimate" for it. Version 1.0 came out on Steam and PS5 on 15 October 2026, and Keen lists the Xbox Series X|S version for 2027.
Everything below was checked on 25 October 2026 against Keen's own sources: the Enshrouded Launch FAQ on Steam, the Enshrouded page on keengames.com and Keen's dedicated server help articles, plus the Steam and PlayStation Store listings.
What Keen Games says about crossplay
The launch FAQ asks the question directly, "will the game be cross-platforms?", and answers:
"Enshrouded will not be cross-platform at launch, but we know many of your friendships have survived years of console wars. We are working on bringing cross-platform play to Enshrouded, but have no current estimate on how much time it will take us."
Keen's Steam news has no update on it since. The posts after the launch, the hotfixes 1.0.0.1 to 1.0.0.3 (15, 16 and 21 October) and the Steam Deck news on 23 October, do not mention crossplay.
Platforms at a glance
| Platform | Status on 25 October 2026 | Online players | Plays with Steam players |
|---|---|---|---|
| PC (Steam) | 1.0 out since 15 October 2026 | Up to 16 | Yes |
| Steam Deck | Steam Deck Verified, announced by Keen on 23 October 2026 | Up to 16 | Yes, it runs the Steam version |
| PlayStation 5 | 1.0 out since 15 October 2026 | Up to 8, PS Plus required | No |
| Xbox Series X and S | Due in 2027, no date | Not announced | Not announced |
The player counts come from the Steam store page ("co-op with up to 16 players") and the PlayStation Store listing ("Supports up to 8 online players with PS Plus" and "PS Plus required for online play"). Keen's game page lists Steam and PlayStation 5 plus Xbox Series X|S in 2027 and no other platforms. The PlayStation Store lists the game for PS5 only, and the Steam version is Windows only.
Can PS5 players join a dedicated server?
Not a PC one. Keen's server documentation covers one server: the Enshrouded Dedicated Server that comes with the game in the Tools section of your Steam library. Its installation article says "For now, only Windows is supported", and its configuration article allows a slot count "between 1 and 16". That server is part of the PC game, and with no crossplay, PS5 players cannot join it.
Some hosts do advertise separate PS5 servers. On 25 October 2026, Indifferent Broccoli wrote "We host Enshrouded servers for PC and for PS5. Enshrouded 1.0 has no crossplay, so each server runs one platform", and low.ms listed Enshrouded for "PC & PS5". Keen has not published how a PS5 server works, so ask the host exactly what it can do before you pay. We do not sell PS5 servers: our Enshrouded servers run the PC dedicated server.
Steam Deck
Keen announced on 23 October 2026 that Valve rated Enshrouded 1.0 Steam Deck Verified. A Steam Deck runs the Steam version of the game, so a Deck player is a PC player as far as Enshrouded is concerned: same worlds, same servers, same 16-player limit.
Xbox
Keen's game page says Enshrouded is "to be released on Xbox X|S in 2027". There is no date, and Keen has not said whether the Xbox version will play with PC or PS5. Its crossplay answer, quoted above, is the most recent word on that.
How to play together until crossplay arrives
- Everyone on PC or Steam Deck. One player hosts from the game, or a dedicated server keeps the world online for up to 16 players while the host is offline. Keen's Dedicated Server FAQ explains the split: "Character progression is stored only on clients. The world progression is stored on the dedicated servers."
- Everyone on PS5. Online co-op for up to 8 players, with PS Plus.
- A mixed group. There is no shared world today. Keen has not said whether worlds or characters will move between PC and PS5 once crossplay comes, so for a long campaign, pick one platform for the whole group.
Running a PC server for your group
Keen's numbers for the dedicated server: about 4.4GB of RAM when idle, up to 100MB more per player, and the process "should not use more than 6GB of physical RAM" in total. Keen's recommended specs for a whole machine hosting 4 to 6 players are a 6-core CPU and 16GB of RAM, and for 16 players an 8-core CPU and 16GB.
Our Enshrouded server hosting runs that PC server through Proton on Linux, set up for you. Every plan takes up to 16 players, Keen's cap; the player count we list per plan is a recommendation based on RAM. The smallest plan we advise for 1.0 is Flame, with 8GB, the first plan above Keen's 6GB figure.
