Minecraft's EULA and Commercial Usage Guidelines define what server owners can sell to players. Violating these rules can result in enforcement from Mojang.
What You CAN Sell
- Cosmetic items: Hats, pets, particle effects, chat colors, nick colors
- Server access: Entry to your server or network
- Cosmetic ranks: Titles, prefixes, chat formatting
- Maps and skins: Custom content (as long as it does not affect gameplay)
- In-game currency that only buys cosmetic items
- Advertising on your server or website
What You CANNOT Sell
- Gameplay advantages: Items, tools, weapons, armor that provide an advantage
- Pay-to-win mechanics: Better enchantments, extra lives, stronger abilities
- Loot boxes or random reward mechanics for real money
- Kits that give paid players better gear than free players
- Command access that affects gameplay (fly, godmode, etc.)
The Key Rule
No pay-to-win. Anything you sell must be cosmetic only and must not give paying players a competitive advantage over non-paying players.

Accept voluntary donations without offering specific rewards. Can acknowledge donors with a title.
Server Access
Charge for access to your server. This is allowed.
FAQ
Can I sell diamond swords on my server? No. Gameplay items that give an advantage are banned under the EULA.
Can I sell VIP ranks? Yes, if the rank only provides cosmetic benefits (chat color, title, particles).
What about crate keys? Random reward mechanisms for real money are not allowed if rewards affect gameplay. Cosmetic-only crates are a gray area.
Will Mojang actually enforce this? Yes. Mojang has sent enforcement notices to servers violating the EULA.
